Just of these that you mentioned, it's undoubtedly Cam. The next option would be tebow, but there was another Tebow in the same frickin year as tebow who was just as prolific, just nobody paid attention to him because he was playing for central michigan.

Agree with dubosed. This and the word great when describing players and teams are way overused in this era of sports. There are not many truly "great" players or teams right now.

Spurrier has gone on record saying he refuses to use the word "great" when describing players.

Source: The SEC according to Spurrier

So I worked really hard not to act like those other coaches, especially how I talked. Coaches like to use the word 'great' all the time. We practiced great, he's a great kid, that was a great win & I made it a point never to use that word. I would say practice went superb or he's an outstanding kid or that win was spectacular. Little stuff like that ....

The fact that you can name 4 all within the same generation basically means "none of the above"

Teams cam would've lost to with the current tamu defense (let's just say 32 ppg allowed (don't feel like looking up actual stats)):
Alabama
Oregon
Lsu
Clemson
Ms st

If you don't want to include bscnc, then cam would've had the same record as manziel but with a worse loss (ms st). I know he beat better teams, but if you want to include games in which you have to score 40+ versus ranked teams to win, excluding Missouri, he would have also lost to USCe in the regular season, making his record 7-5 going into bowl season. So even though you could say that he put the whole team on his back (which I am not disagreeing with), he had a lot of help defensively unlike what jff had. I am willing to bet that if manziel only had to score 28 vs bama, 22 vs Oregon, 17 vs ms st, 27(in ot) vs Clemson, and 35 vs USCe, he would have lost every game. He would still make the bscnc and win as #2 however, if he had had auburns defense because he would have beaten the previously listed teams by a comfortable margin (if auburns defense allowed the same amount of points).

Cam and JFF. Those two guys were the best players on the field in their respective Heisman years. And it wasnt close. Newton has proven to be a very good NFL QB as well. Not sure on JFF til he gets to the league. Suspect he may be injury prone over 16 games.

Actually, THIS x1000. Could play any sport whatsoever and be the best on the field/court/track.

Maybe not swimming...

I don't consider Herschel & Bo to be in the same generation as those players named in the original post.

Bo and Herschel are both 52. The oldest player I named is Tebow who is 26. That's like considering you in the same generation as your parents.

When I think of once in a generation I think of somebody like Broadway Joe. He won at the college level and at the pro level. Most of the guys on this list have a few years of hype but the fully body of work remains unknown. If somebody wins all the stats but never leads his team to a MNC or Super Bowl can they really be a "once in a generation" talent?

Now kids are hyped so hard for little real staying power. Cam and JFF could be great, but we just do not have enough history yet to make that claim.

I'm just laughing at those who are saying Mathieu. Patrick Peterson was better than him at every phase of the game.

Nice face mask in that second pick.

But yeah i think that one catch perfectly sums up his entire skill set.

Please let me know what bam a player you think it good. Ill make sure to highlight there careers in a similar fashion.

But was beat out of the UF backup spot by John Brantley.

IMO Percy was more of a "once in a generation" talent for UF.
