Ehh nutt barely played while at arkansas, holtz ran him off and he transfered to oklahoma state. He was a decent coach for us and benefitted from a few recruits that were coming to arkansas no matter who the coach was. That being said he was egotistical and assumed the whole state bought his bs.

Did Long fire Nutt and/or hire Petrino?

Nutt's team finished the 2006 season with 3 straight losses to LSU, Florida, and Bielema's Wisconsin team in the Capital One Bowl. Then he managed to open the 2007 season with 3 straight SEC losses to Alabama, Kentucky, and Auburn. This was with a team loaded with some of the best talent in the country.

He was not officially fired but the 2007 team was performing far below its potential and by the time the Tennessee game rolled around, I believe he knew he was done at Arkansas. And I believe that's when he started looking for another job.

Nutt was hired by Ole Miss shortly after the LSU game and Long hired Petrino as his replacement.

Nutt's last year he ran off Malzhan and brought in David "ladders" Lee to be his OC, which was just a cover so he could go back to calling the plays, just like he did in the last 3 loses the year before.

That was his downfall, the thought he was an offensive genius and should be calling all the plays.

Nutt could screw up a perfectly fine mayonnaise sandwich.

Isn't "Nutt" what you do to make a perfectly fine mayonnaise sandwich?

Your troll job was pretty decent for a minute. Unfortunately, you can only take a hook like "I don't get it, why is Houston Nutt seen as incompetent and unlikeable?" so deep before no argument can offset its absurdity and it inevitably caves in on itself.

Still, you coaxed a reply out of me.

From the responses, it seems Arky hasn't gotten over the Mad Nutter.

I don't blame 'em.

I mean at least Nutt gave us a little something here and there. We went to Atlanta under him. All he did at Ole Miss was waste talent like Dexter McCluster. Although I do wonder what 2006 would have been like if we had....well literally anyone other than Nutt as our coach then.
