He left Arkansas when Lou Holtz was coach and played for Oklahoma State.

I can't stand Nutt. But this battle with ole miss is about the only time I would ever choose his side. Freeze cheated every way imaginable and to try to pin in on someone else to con even more recruits is shameful.

The OleMiss Administration was in deflection mode after the 1st NOA came out. They were working every angle possible to lay the blame on someone else and diffuse the situation so that the "Narrative" wouldn't reflect poorly on Freeze & his staffers.

The NCAA caught wind of their deflection antics and came back for blood by making sure anyone and everyone knew without a doubt that Freeze was at the core in the amended NOA.

Nutt refuses to take it laying down. Whether he feels like he'll ever coach ball again is beside the point, he going back to the well for more $$ from OM.

I hear ya. There were many things about him that I disliked. He was toxic to both programs but something I never considered him to be was a cheater.

Why does Nutt even want to get involved in this mess - lawsuit, really? On what basis? He can't win this.

Depends on your definition of winning. If Freeze is forced to resign, Nutt will probably feel like it was worth it. As hard as defamation suits are, I feel fairly confident that his lawyer has told him not to expect a dime out of this (and probably required a nice retainer just to file it). This is not the move of a man who is out of money. It's what we in the trade would call "recreational litigation."

Why all the Arkansas hate for Nutt? He has been their most successful coach since joining the SEC.

He took them to bowls had a winning record in conference, they fire him after beating the #1 team in the country. Since then they are around 15 game below .500 in the conference. Vandy has more wins then them the past 5 seasons.

Do Arkansas fans still hate him? It's been 10 years. Sheesh. He was a freaking native Arkansasan and even played football there. I really don't understand Arkansas.

If you didn't grow up in Arkansas, then you will never understand. The whole state feels a strong pride for the Razorbacks and the state of Arkansas as a whole. It started with the SWC when it was us against all Texas teams and grew from there. It's the same reason we get so butt hurt when recruits leave the state. Nutt is a native. He embarrassed the Program and the State. When you do that, your gonna get a lot of hate.

Has Ole Miss forgotten those Cotton Bowls already?

That was program changing stuff as I recall... 2 years of threads said so.

He was our most successful coach because we kept him for ten years. He clearly should have been gone long before then. And this is mostly when the West was weaker division. Yeah, he took us to bowls and had a 2–5 record in those bowls to show for it. Super fun.

I'm just curious why all the hate for him? Took you to 8 bowls in 10 years, Atlanta a couple times, won 18 games in his last two years including the West.

Lots of your fans on this board wanted to keep Petrino after he was caught hiring his mistress, paying her cash, and lying to his boss. What did Nutt do that was as bad?

Nutt was a lazy recruiter at Arkansas and he was way too comfortable.

His last 4 years at Arkansas was a constant distraction with all of his drama. 10 years at any school is too long unless you win like Saban.

Also, when you have a team with DMAC, Felix Jones, Peyton Hillis, and Michael Smith in the backfield and you can't win the SEC then you have to go. That team also had 4 or 5 guys on defense that went to the NFL.

All that being said, Nutt may turn out to be a much better coach than Bert. Fat boy better find a way to win some Frick ingredients games this season or he can go golfing with Nutt on a permanent basis.

That's a bit unfair, you tell me he was a lazy recruiter then say he had all this talent but did win the SEC with that talent. Arkansas has never won the SEC.

Their junior year they lost to eventually nation champion Florida in the SEC title game. Played the Gators closer than Ohio State did.

Their senior year they beat eventually nation champion LSU in his last game. Cotton Bowl berth, I believe.

The 2007 season was the end for Nutt at Arkansas because of the shite storm created by Gus and his supporters in NW Arkansas. Landing Petrino was a miracle.

Saying Nutt cann't win his suit is not looking at the big picture from the Black Bears' perspective. They do not want this to go to trial, let alone get involved with any Request for Production of Documents when his atty files Discovery papers. Depositions under oath? Consider how many subpoenas would be issued to all the different parties. This will settle sooner rather than later. This has nothing to do with the NCAA's and the Black Bears want this to go away yesterday.

Did Long fire Nutt and/or hire Petrino?
