I think a Baylor win this weekend actually takes a lot of pressure off of Auburn while Alabama still will have a ton of pressure. If Baylor gets by Okie State, I just can't see them losing again. I can't see FSU losing either. tOSU could very easily lose to Michigan State.

just two and a half months ago Auburn fans were just hoping to get to a bowl game and look competitive again.

I'd say we have a hell of a lot less to lose in this game.

This is a rivalry for the fans, not the players.

Do you really believe that?
Saban's got his players brain-washed, everyone knows that. He tells them to do their job, and execute the game plan for every opponent. Hell, a good majority of our players weren't born & raised on the rivalry, a good many aren't even from the state.

The crowd is going to be a factor that keeps Auburn in the game for a while IMHO.

"Just two and a half months ago"

Auburn has definitely come a very long way in a short period of time but I think the just wanted a winning season talk is slightly exaggerated. I think most people figured you'd finish 8-4 or 7-5 going into the season.

It's funny looking back on it. I was at a class reunion the weekend Auburn played Miss State. I had several high school friends that went to Auburn and my Bama friends and I were actually pulling for Auburn to pull out that game at the end. We didn't want a fun night to be soured with our Auburn friends being pissed off after a loss. At the time we thought you'd lose at least 3 or 4 games. Now I feel stupid for pulling for y'all that night.
