The Big 6 are the only schools to win the conference since 1963. Ditto for national titles.

I'd post the 1989 Tuscaloosa News article but I'm on my phone.

It had a LOT to do with why the divisions were set up with half the Big 6 in one division and half in the other. Also, why LSU was paired with Florida (besides our history of playing them).

It's all about balancing the traditional powers.

Honestly the BIG 6 changes on a yearly basis. So going into 2013 i would say this is the BIG 6:

Alabama
LSU
Texas A&M
Florida
Georgia
South Carolina

W/L record of the last 5 years:

Alabama: 61-7
Florida: 52-15
LSU: 51-15
Georgia: 46-21
SCar: 45-21
Arkansas: 38-25

Auburn: 38-26
Texas A&M: 37-27

If you're going to post, know what you're posting about.
The Big 6 refers to the 6 teams that have won the SECCG. It doesn't change on a yearly basis, or have anything to do with budgets, stadiums, recruits, W/L records etc..
