I'm sorry I'm not sorry that Faulk had a better career than Bo.

But keep clinging to that one ypc stat.

Bo and Herschel stand alone as far as pure athleticism goes. They are the prototypical RB that would be built in a lab. Both were 6'1 and 220-230 lbs. Both had world class speed. Herschel ran a 10.1 100 meter in college. Bo ran a 10.3 in HS (never ran it in college). Both were 4.2 40 guys.

If you want to talk about outside the SEC, then I would still put those two at the top with Marcus Dupree being a close 3rd.

There have been other backs that had one element that Herschel and Bo had. You had guys with the size (Emmit Smith, Ricky Williams) or the power (Adrian Peterson), you had guys that could make awesome cut backs and were illusive (Payton, Sanders). And you had guys that could run about as fast (Reggie Bush). But I can't think of anyone else that had all of those elements in one package like Herschel and Bo did.

Of course, Barry Sanders is the greatest "cutting" running back of all time (I would say superior to Bo and Herschel in that regard). He wasn't on their level as far as power and speed go, though. He wasn't running people over like they did.

I think you meant to say, "Herschel stands alone as far as pure athleticism goes." because "alone" literally means having no one else present; on one's own.

Nice try trying to tag Bo along with Herschel.

Sorry you don't like objective statistics.

More rushing yards
More carries
More rushing TDs
More receptions
More receiving yards
More receiving TDs

Hell...

More punt returns
More punt return yards
More yards per return
More punt return TDs

I get it, you're an Auburn man, you have to dream about Bo. Faulk and his 3 Super Bowl rings still respect Bo. After all, Bo does know baseball.

Don't blame me if Bo's a pussy and couldn't take the pounding.

Faulk had 46 rushing TDs to Bo's 43.

How many games a year did Bo play? Hows many did Faulk? I'll wait for your answer.

What's crazy about Bo is that he was NOT prototypical as far as SIZE goes. He was huge. Coach Bryant wanted to make him a linebacker, and to be honest, instead of talking about how he is one of the greatest RB's of all time I think if he had gone that route we'd be talking about him being one of the greatest LB's of all time.

Bo was just fricking amazing at whatever the frick he did. If you want to go on who's the best pure athlete? I think Bo Jackson may have been the greatest ATHLETE to ever grace an American sport. We got cheated out of a LOT of good shite when his hip fricked up.

Emmitt Smith would be 2nd and I can make a case for him being 1st. Stats don't mean everything.

Dude had like one, thousand yard season. Might not even make top 10 of SEC's all time backs.

Sorry

Remember how LSU fans said Leonard fournette was going to break herschels record, but now he isn't even in the top 10?

If he plays any at all in LSU's bowl game he will be in the Top 10. He needs 6 yards.

FWIW, if had been healthy this year, he very well might have broken Herschel's record.

This same logic is going to be used for Fournette compared to all those backs with 4 years, correct?

I'm guessing not.

Ralph Webb has 3236 career yards with the bowl game coming and likely returning for his Senior year. Not saying he's the 3rd or 4th best RB in the sec all time but he could enter the top 5 and threaten Bo Jackson. He's been a very good back for us but crazy to think his final numbers could be that good.

Webb deserves it. He's been a really good player that's gotten lost in the bullshite.

Bo played in 45 games for Auburn, while Kevin Faulk played only 41 games for LSU.

There hasn't been a legitimate discussion of the greatest athlete of all time in the last 30 years that doesn't bring Bo up as an argument for #1. Herschel doesn't get brought up because he was only great at 1 sport. Unless you count running fast in a straight line on a track a sport.

In terms of "pure athleticism"... Nice try trying to tag Herschel along with Bo.
