Ego has been VERY surprising. I knew he would be good, but he is great.

DE- No. 59, Jermauria Rasco 6-3 262, JR
DT- No. 90, Anthony Johnson 6-3, 294, JR
DT- No. 9, Ego Ferguson 6-3 309, JR
DE- No. 98, Jordan Allen 6-6 254, JR
OLB- No. 58 Tahj Jones 6-2, 205, SR
MLB- No. 31 D.J. Welter 6-1, 226, JR
OLB- No. 18 Lamin Barrow 6-2, 232, SR

Rasco and Allen, while (arguably) not as good talent-wise as Mingo and Montgomery were last year have done well in their first year as starters. But Danielle hunter plays almost as much as these guys and he's got talent to burn.

All 3 of those guys are very good.

At DT, Johnson is the more heralded of the 2 starters, but he's been commanding a lot of double teams, so furguson has racked up more stats with only one man to beat. These guys are both fantastic defensive tackles, but there's definitely a depth issue behind them. The third and fourth DTs are Quinton Thomas and Christian LaCouture. Thomas is older, but lacks the raw talent of some of the guys, whereas lacouture is a true freshman but is incredibly talented without the experience.

At OLB, Barrow and Jones are both very quality LBs. Neither are world beaters and Barrow has had some injury issues, but they're very good at what they do. Kwon Alexander may also start or play ALOT, he's the most talented LB we have. He will also be seen covering slot WRs, thats how quick he is

at MLB, Welter has had his ups and downs. He clearly knows the defense very well and is usually in the right place to make a tackle. Not the talent that Kevin Minter was, but a good leader in the LB corps

I think you mean Barrow and Alexander. Kwon has looked really good since stepping on campus.

Kwon is almost in the team lead for tackles and I think he's only started 1 game. He hasn't played as much as other LBs have. He's our best LB.

our starters vs Auburn were Tajh, Welter, Barrow

Don't know why I though Kwon Alexander was starting this year. I have only caught parts of LSU games, but every time it seems like he is in the game. Is this one of those situations where the back up plays as much as the starter?

ETA: Never mind, saw the discussion above.

I'll have to go back and rewatch the game then since I could have sworn I saw him in on most plays. I'll defer to you on this one though.

he played more vs auburn than earlier in the year. Tahj got the start but kwon did play more. he was second on the team in tackles vs auburn iirc.

seems they are bringing him along slowly. It's time to cut him loose now though.

Our front seven seems to get more pressure on the qb than we have in the past year or two. The ends contain pretty well and are very quick in space.
The tackles are very strong and agile. They are not hole cloggers as much as they are playmakers who penetrate and make tackles for loss.
The linebackers substitute a good bit and have been kind of off/on thus far. I don't like them in coverage a whole lot but they can run and do a great job forcing plays inside or stringing out outside runs.
Our corners are very young and have not been great on the deep ball. They are very athletic and will be very good before they leave LSU.
Our safety's hit hard and cause turnovers regularly. They will also take some bad angles and give up a long run or yac.

I'm actually amazed that other teams would approve of WildThang to post on their boards

Jorden Allen plays with best motor on the line. Ego is the one you have to watch out for because Freak will double teamed all night long. Kwon Alexander is easily the best linebacker on our team and one of the best in the SEC for that matter.

I do not think yalls run game will gash us like Auburn did because lack of threat of running by Murray.

That's what I got from just looking at the height weight.

The one DE is basically the same height/weight as our OLB on pash rush duty in the 3-4. Jordan Jenkins.

So basically, even though you call it something different, you have the same defense as UGA but you call it a DE on the weak side and we call it OLB.

Although our tackles are a little heavier, UGA has already abandoned the idea of have the biggest meatball on the team starting at nose, and are now using the best guys, regardless of their particular body form.... with former DE Garrison Smith in the nose position, just a little over 300.

I don't know if it's a good or bad thing yet, but good to see Grantham doing something different.

Guys are playing with a sense of urgency unlike some players from the team last year...especially the end who said he took plays off against weaker competition.

UGA's offensive line is pretty good. You saw two guys struggle against Clemson, center David Andrews and LT Kenarious Gates, but they've both been clutch since that game, and were clutch last year.... both returning starters.

I hope Miles gameplans with this in mind. I hope he thinks Murray doesn't run.
