Everyone I know from there thinks they went to some elite school, which is a joke. I grew up in Louisiana and had never heard of it until I was in my 20s.

This is the impression I get. I just looked them up and they offer like 30 liberal arts majors, nothing past a masters degree, and cost like 5 times what UA does. I mean maybe if some kid likes tiny classes and/or can't handle the size of UA Fay it would be better for them. But to compare it to the flagship institution in the state that is a high level research institution is funny.

Seems that way. I applied there and got in (wasn't seriously considering going there) but a scholarship calculator on their website said that I could be a National Merit Scholar and have a perfect ACT and it projected I could get 1/3 of the tuition paid for. frick that. I better be paid to live in Waco.

Indeed it is. I had a very good scholarship thrown my way, however. Otherwise it would have never even been on my radar.

It's not hate; Baylor just isn't a very good academic (or otherwise) school. The fact that it's private has zero bearing on it.

For LSU it's ULL in just about every category. They want to be LSU so badly it's ridiculous. They dog on LSU more than they display pride for their school. LA Tech and ULM are perceived as LSU neutral, and most SELU students are LSU fans.

Tulane is "above" hating LSU. I guess they think they're so much better than LSU, the topic doesn't need their input. The popular joke among Tulane students (most of whom are from the Northeast) is that they'll one day be our (LSU Alumni) bosses. Ironically, I have two Tulane Alum employees -- well, I had two. I just let one go for poor performance.

I'll also add that I had never been to Waco.

Well, to give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe MORE would show up if they didn't have to go into the neighborhood where Legion Field is located.
Please, this excuse is WAY overblown. As long as you park in the parking lot, you won't have any problems. It's not that hard to get to and from LF.

At $60,000/year for undergrads, it better be.
