In all fairness Hail, there were 5 replies to your post (6 including this one) that were NOT trolls or shite responses, so you can't say that. But you chose to give credence to and put on a pedestal - the troll responses, instead of just ignoring them. them. In answer to your question, I would say the first team that has a coaching change.

So you're saying LSU doesn't bring in the same caliber recruits if not better? Pshh. Get out of town.

LSU, easily.

Saban still has another full graduating class or two left at Bama.

It's highly unlikely because statistically they're bound to win a couple toss-ups, but LSU has 7 lose-able games on their schedule this season.

I know this board likes to joke about tDecline, but its becoming very real for LSU. Les has been in Baton Rouge a decade now and seems to be growing lazy as he nears retirement age. He definitely doesn't have the drive that Saban does at their age anyway. The Mad Hatter appears to be all out of tricks. Yes he's put together a couple elite teams at LSU but more often his seasons success has depended on tricks and luck to bail out his own incompetence, as best illustrated in 2007. Steele was a lazy hire at DC. A bad DC could spell doom for an offensive coach who has sustained his career with defense due to the annually inept offenses he trots out. He continues to try and fit mediocre dual-threat QBs into his pro style offense despite getting significantly better production out of pro-style pocket passers. LSU's QB situation is abysmal right now. Both their QB's played terrible last season and any LSU fan expecting any significant improvement is a homer that is bound to be disappointed.

Well seeing as the last time LSU had a record below .500 was 1999 and the last time Alabama had a record below .500 (excluding bowl games) was 2003, I'd say Alabama. However, neither of these teams is going to post a 5-7 record any time in the near future.

The only way either program will see a losing record anytime soon is due to NCAA sanctions or an absolutely abysmal coaching hire.

I couldn't speculate on which, though I have an idea.

Holy shite you morons are a sensitive bunch aren't you? How the hell is it an "insult" to simply ask which team out of LSU or Bama will be the first to fail to qualify for a bowl? I am not implying that either team is not elite.
It's a ridiculous thread made by an unwanted yankee poster, and we can supply this board with enough of our own stupid threads, so....

A sophomore with limited experience and a true freshman with no experience last season. You don't think there's going to be improvement from one year to the next? Especially considering the true frosh has the highest growth potential?

The DC may prove to be the biggest question mark, but we won't know until the season is underway. Steele may turn out to be a great fit--especially considering his insight regarding Bama.

not to mention that horrible D

LSU ranked 9th in the country in total D last season--tops in the SEC, even above Bama.

here is the correct answer. Never. Both will win 3 OOC games minimum a year and neither will lose more than 5 conference games. So at worst I see them going 6-6 but neither will get close to 6-6 with NS and Miles. But Miles will be more likely to go 6-6 before NS

I don't think anyone is denying that.

Considering the large discrepancy in budgets the talent level is comparable

Bama. Saban retires before Miles.

It won't happen under Saban or Miles. We don't know who their replacements will be so its kind of a silly question.

This. Whichever teams coach retires first is much more likely to be the first to go 5-7. At this point, I'm not really sure who will retire first.

LSU and Bama are too elite of programs to fall below .500 anytime soon. We aren't Arkansas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, UF, Auburn or any of the other wannabe elite SEC teams that dumpster dive from time to time.

But the correct answer is Alabama, because I'm an LSU fan

Don't think it can't happen to your school. If Alleva flubs the next hire at head coach, it could happen. If Battle flubs the next hire at head coach, it could happen.

There's no way in hell Florida should ever have a losing season, yet that happened two years ago. A really bad hire at head coach changes everything regardless of recruiting base and anything else in your favor.

Furthermore, making one national championship run every four years does not make your program elite. Not when a division rival is in the hunt every year and not when a handful of other schools do it every year. LSU is a good program, but right now, it's not elite. You're not an elite program when you lose five games.
