i would argue that lsu fans' high expectations year after year are warranted, based on the talent advantage we have over pretty much every team we play besides alabama.

i believe this year will go a long way in determining lsu's "place" in the conference. if lsu loses 2-4 games again and loses to alabama, they have their place. it is a team that underachieves despite a load of talent.

however, if lsu wins 11 games and goes on to win the west this season, i think you could argue they have their "place" as the second team in the SEC. no one, likely, will be alabama as long as saban is there, but with the talent lsu pulls in every year and the consistency the program has had (despite these "bad" seasons), you could make a strong argument that they are above everyone else besides the tide.

and i would argue lsu really didn't underachieve that much in 2013 and 2014. 2015? definitely.

I'm thinking you are attempting to trigger me and I really want to get upset but you are making it difficult.

I'll try reasoning with you.

1) UF/UG never claimed to invent the cocktail party.
2) The weather in Yankee land is fine now. Still, no large cocktail parties outside to compete with THE World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.
3) Frick Texas - unless you agree to secede from the Union at the same time as Florida.

It is well with my soul thanks to Croom..

Some of these younger State fans may have an altered perception but not for the most part.

No, I was being a little self deprecating.

I disagree.

SCAR will continue to endeavor to move into the upper echelon of the conference in terms of football.

We're already there in most other sports.

We have nicer facilities than the other two you paired us with on just about every level, if not all.

I do not think, not to my knowledge anyway, that either of those other two programs have had three consecutive 11 win seasons ... and it gave us a taste for more.

As the population of this state continues to grow by leaps and bounds, so will the available in-state talent for football. That's key ... because we've always had good high school football in this state, just not enough of it.

So no, I do not believe we, as SCAR fans, accept mediocrity.

The thing about the SEC is that no one is sitting still waiting for others to pass them. SCAR, however, has upgraded facilities, is a member of the $100 million club, is willing to pay coaches and staffs, has the support personnel in place (finally) and perhaps, most importantly of all, has always had a large and very supportive fan base. We're renowned, as a fan base, for our loyalty. It doesn't mean we accept mediocrity.

What we absolutely do demand are good academics from our student athletes and we do not condone intentional cheating, when recruiting, in any form on any level.

If it bothers you so much, simple solution would be to maybe not come to the site until the season begins?

What you just said could be said about 8-10 other SEC schools.

I feel like most of the East is realistic save Tennessee fans.

Alabama - realistic
Arkansas - unrealistic
Auburn - they try to overstep their boundaries occasionally, but for the most part, they know their place. Usually takes a dumpster fire season to bring them back to reality
LSU - unrealistic
Miss St - realistic (the most realistic in the West)
Ole Miss - unrealistic
A&M - pathetically unrealistic

Does - Bama, Kentucky, South Carolina(to an extent), Mississippi State, Arkansas, Vandy, Mizzou, Tennessee

Does not - LSU, Auburn, Georgia, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Florida

Not fair, we are more realistic than LSU fans are.

The real gap between Bama and LSU is larger than the gap between LSU and A&M.

Based on what? Results of the games say the gap is just about even for both.

I think Ole Miss fans are coming around really well in accepting our place as a top 4 team in the conference

I'm proud of South Carolina

We came in together and created lasting memories

Results of the games

I don't know what you mean by that. Pretty much every all-time metric says that the gap between Bama and LSU is larger than the gap between LSU and A&M.

For example, claimed national titles.

Bama has 16

LSU has 3

A&M has let's say 1 to avoid debate

The gap from 16 to 3? 13

The gap from 3 to 1? 2

Therefore based on that metric the gap between Bama and LSU is much larger than the gap between LSU and A&M.

but but but you say. LSU doesn't claim titles it could, while Bama does you say.

So we do it again for every possible claimed title:

bama has 20 of those total

LSU has 8 of those total

A&M has 3 of those total

The gap from 20 to 8? 12

The gap from 8 to 3? 5

So the gap is still twice as large. But I can keep going

Bama has had 64 All Americans

LSU has had 31

A&M has had 27

Once again the LSU to Bama gap is double, while the A&M gap is slight.

I can keep going if you want. Hell, let's just look at wins, as you say "the results of the games!"

Bama has 864 wins all-time

LSU has 770

A&M has 717

Gap from Bama to LSU? 94 wins

Gap from LSU to A&M? 53 wins

So once again we have a gap that is almost twice as large.

Sorry to burst your bubble.
