2 years tops? I can see him getting a hc gig at a smaller school or something if he does great but to say 2 years absolute longest seems a bit much

He's already very well respected within coaching circles and considered one of the best DC's in the country. Part of the reason he came to Tennessee was to further raise his profile. He knew our roster was stacked and perfect for the style of defense he runs and that the stars were already aligned for potential success with this team this year. Coming here and coaching this defense will make him a hot name in a hurry. Honestly, he's walked into a perfect situation career wise - that's why he took the job and turned down so many others.

I hope he stays longer than 2 years but folks are going to come calling fairly soon and he's made it clear that he wants to be a head coach.

Nussmeier and Collins were heavily pursued this past year.

I think Enos and obviously Kiffin would be other popular choices from the SEC.

My guess is that one of our assistants will be a head coach in high school next year. Someone has to be sacrificed.

Pruitt or Kiffin...I think whoever throws money at Kiffin to bc head coach deserves all the shite that will happen when he runs their program into the ground. Pruitt has some Coed problems as well but I think he's head and shoulders above Kiffin on the maturity meter.

LOL @ all of the Vols pumping their own assistant coaches trying to make their team/coaching staff look elite.

What?
From what I heard, Malzahn is blaming all of Auburn's offensive woes last season on Lashlee.

If Gus doesn't get the ship righted this season, I expect Lashlee to be the next coach shown the door.

Not true at all. If that were the case he would've been gone. Gus is terribly loyal to Lashlee.

Exact same thing could be said about Aranda

What he said was that he got too far away from the X's and O's of football and gave Lashlee too much responsibility. It's a polite way of saying Lashlee didn't do a good job last year.

The biggest problem is neither one of them knows how to coach or develop a QB

Yeah, I would think that's something Malzahn needs to be working hard on figuring out. It almost beggars belief that he is so bad at it considering some of his teams' success in the passing game. Hell, Lashlee was an INCREDIBLE quarterback in high school. I was anxious to see what he could accomplish here at Arkansas...except he was playing for a notorious QB killer of a coach and behind one of Arkansas's GOAT QBs. Never had a chance. But he has tons of state records here in Arkansas. Most passing yards all time, number of completions in a single game, number of attempts in a single game, most passing touchdowns of all time, etc etc etc...

You'd think that these guys would be good at this stuff.

At this rate Auburn won't be able to afford me.
