For business, SMU would be ok with me. Agree with your laugh list.

A little off topic (not an SEC school) with a hint of CSB - but this is where I truly wanted to go to college.

My old man and mom were awesome about my college search. The only limits we had were none of us were allowed to go GSU but luckily I had absolutely no desire to get aids. He even sent me up north knowing I'd transfer, he just wanted me to discover that myself. Kind of an expensive life lesson he gave me but I'll never forget that.

If they are intelligent and want to be successful, Texas A&M or Florida. If they can't, smaller school in Texas and transfer in to A&M. No other SEC school really impresses me academically outside of Vanderbilt, and they would have to be in love with them for me to think they wouldn't get something very comparable in A&M or Florida, but get the experiences and networking from a larger school.

After that? Or if they are stupid?

Georgia
Alabama
Auburn
Mizzou
Tennessee
South Carolina
Kentucky
LSU

I would never under any circumstances let my kid go to Arkansas/Ole Miss/State.

They would get a better education at UTD.

Being a Bama alumnus, I would obviously "guide" any children of mine to UA, even if I didn't do it intentionally. If they were smart enough, I would try to get them to look at schools like Vandy though. Ultimately, I really wouldn't care as long as they got decent grades, graduated, and had a good time in the process.

I’d want my kids to attend Arkansas – but they might have better opportunities in life and better experiences if they went somewhere else

for an undergraduate degree, there is very little differnce where they go; all (except msu and ole miss) are tier one schools. of course, their field of study MIGHT make a difference. ultimately, your children's opportunities in life and their experiences are WHAT THEY MAKE OF THEM. now, the ivy league schools and some of the california schools might make a differnce as an undergrad, esp. harvard, upenn (wharton school of business) might matter as well as the service academies. but the fact is that EVERY SCHOOL has some damn successful graduates and damn unsuccessful ones too. learning is more important than teaching. and all schools have very highly rated professors that can't teach for shite nor care. their resume' is to boost the schools image; screw the students. lastly, it is my experience that most kids aren't sent anywhere (at least for long); they decide where they want to go. good luck and hopefully all of your children will not only get an education but will use it to further their career and their happiness.

If my kids received scholly's to ANY of the schools I would . Wouldn't care which one.

Aside from that and based solely on academics.

1. Vanderbilt
2. Florida
3. Georgia
4. Auburn
5. Texas A&M

After that, I wouldn't care either way.

If money was not object, Vandy. Otherwise, in-state, UGA.

I probably would have seriously considered SMU (and TCU) had I not gotten into A&M, but it's so damn expensive for what you get and all my friends who went there became so stuck up by the end. I would pay for wherever my kid wants to go, but I would definitely make sure to have some down to earth moments if they were to go to SMU. TCU is kind of becoming a duller version of SMU now too.

I don't think there's any way I would pay for that if they had gotten into Texas or A&M. It makes no sense in that regard

This is truth. You can go to Harvard or Yale and dick around in college and dick around some more when you graduate and get passed up by the kid who went to the large state school pretty damn quick

It doesn't. It's not worth it unless you are attending for your MBA at their school of business.

over priced and then I have to worry about my son with some snotty park cities girl and her parents

Crap! I guess you better tell the plethora of intelligent and successful people that graduated from schools other than those two that their entire life up to this point has been a giant facade.

I had no money, lived at home, and graduated from Baylor. Then went on to med school in Dallas.

My 1st year lab foursome featured four Phi Beta Kappa key holders:

1) me; BS Biology
2) Plan 2 Biology University of Texas
3) BS in Chem; TAMU
4) BS Biochem; Stanford

We all did well in med school and were similarly prepared.

5 of the top 10 grads from my med school class in 1988 were from Baylor. No biggie.

The scariest person I had in my class intelligence-wise was from Rice.

BOTTOM LINE: There are smart folks all over; some of you guys(this is YOU aggies) need to get over yourselves. The stench of your hubris is nauseating.

A high-ranking grad from any of the SEC schools will do well in life and have plenty of job opportunities.

non sports related, any that had a good course for whatever major they were interested in.

if it was as a vet? then AU, but for something like chem engineering, id lean towards Bama as I have a cousin who graduated there and is doing very well from the edu she got.

like i said - just depends

As my SO has a teenage daughter who she would love to have become a veterinarian, here goes:

1. A&M
2. LSU (as working with Mike would be cool)
3. Florida (my SO's mom lives near Sarasota)
4. Missouri (my SO is originally from St. Louis and her dad enrolled there though he didn't finish--probably starting out at 16 was too much to ask)
5-8 All the other schools with vet programs
9-12 Everyone else

I have been reading this board for a while. Assuming the old adage that "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree" is true, most of the kids from posters on here will be lucky to graduate high school. School is what one makes of it.
