Considering SEC teams may sweep the entire list this year, which would be the most important?

How are we supposed to sweep the list when Penn St. has already won the volleyball national championship?

The 12 straight indoor titles are the most consecutive championships won by any team in any sport in Division I history.

Damn, I have been wrong all thi time. Thought LSU had the record, with LSU women's outdoor track. They only had 11 straight.
Although gymnastics get larger crouds, I would list sports with a judge at the bottom.

it's the only sport on the list you will die doing with 0 ability. not to mention we win over 1/3 of our olympic gold medals here and the earth is 2/3 covered in my "playing field"

I'll go with this.

In non-Olympic years, it's "nice" to win any of the listed sports, to the average fan.

Seeing "one of yours" in the Olympics is always fun. Auburn had a nice run of Olympic swimmers. In track and field, it's a little funny how many SEC athletes you see representing other countries, as well as the US.

Gymnastics is, sadly, an afterthought. Not because of the sport itself, but because the elite ones are 16. Those in college are too old.

You left off golf. Don't think golf matters? Ask Stanford if it has benefited them to have Tiger Woods as a former student athlete.

Whoever mentioned golf is crazy as well. Golf is a recreation, not a sport.

Gymnastics and it's proven out by attendance.

Those little ladies are the better athletes as well.

Golf takes more skill than any other sport.

Throwing darts requires a lot of skill too...hell manipulating international credit laws requires a lot of skill, still isn't a sport.

What would it need to be a sport?

I would say the ability to personally affect your opponent (i.e. play defense). I like to play golf, but I don't consider it to be a sport.

All are deadly dull to watch on television (outside of Olympic competition), which is why none are major college sports. I have been to meets and matches in each sport, and of the six, track and field and gymnastics are fairly interesting live, and even collegiate track meets drag on and on.

Whichever one you care about the most. Based on fan attraction I would say Gymnastics is first, but If I like Wrestling then that one would be most important to me. Who cares if people on this website want to deem these sports irrelevant? If you like the sport and your school is good at it, then enjoy the title and everyone else can STFU.
