I think South Carolina or Mississippi State have the best shot out of the Little 8. Mississippi State with the all around better squad, but South Carolina in a much easier division.

That's like picking Mizzu due to their Journalism school.

cajun bama - dude you are dumb and make us look bad. You always have shittalk against LSU and they are not our rival. I think you are a fake Bama fan trying to make us look bad.

Sounds like your players would disagree but if some random message board fan says it, it must be true..

I'll be the one to say it. Moo State. If Fitz gets even better this year, they will be a tough team to contend with.

I won't put MSU in there but I sure like what I'm hearing about the defense. That's been a poor spot recently. We have the players there now and last years experiment with a guy who had never been a coordinator was a total disaster. Glad we finally paid money to hire someone with experience.

None will win this year. The only ones who have any chance of winning the SEC in the near future are South Carolina, Arkansas, A&M, and Mizzou.

Bama fans have the biggest case of lil bro syndrome of any big bro in any sport in all of history. Nobody else even comes close.

Hell, very few lil bro's even have lol bro syndrome anywhere near the same level as Bama fans.

I don't think they even have that much talent this season. Overall, I think they're much closer talent wise to MSU and Arky than they are the top 3 in the West.

It'll be interesting to see them not play up to that talent. 5th or 6th in the West this season IMO.

Sorry, but I wouldn't put Arkansas or Mizzou in that group. I don't see either one of yall making it back again in the foreseeable future, i.e. the next decade.

When Arkansas had made it was because Bama was on probation (literally the first time Bama won the West but was ineligible) and they got slaughtered. The other time it took Bama still being down and a world class trio of runningbacks including a two time Heisman runner up. Even then they still were never really in the game with Florida, and finished the season behind AU and LSU in the final polls.

Mizzou obviously got slaughtered both times y'all made it as well. And I don't see y'all getting back to that level of talent, or the big 3 of the East being down at the same time again.

South Carolina and A&M have the best chances IMO but the highest A&M has finished in the West was 3rd, and that was in 2012 with a Heisman winning QB.
South Carolina was blown out in record setting fashion the only time they made it.

The only other little 8 member to ever even make the title game was MSU, and that was nearly 2 decades ago now in 1998 and that took the rarest of all flukes of Alabama, Auburn, and LSU all having a down season the same year.

ETA

I forgot that Arkansas also made it in 1995, but they were blown out by 30+ then as well.

The little 8 has not performed well in the SECCG historically.

The closest any little 8 member has come in the SECCG is 10 points.

On average the little 8 loses their SECCG appearances by 23.3 points.

Moo state would roll the east

MSU's record vs Eastern Division opponents since 2010 is (12-4). Skewed largely thanks to Kentucky. However, MSU has defeated every team in the East at least once since 2010, having only lost more than once to South Carolina during this period.

UK- 6-1
UT- 1-0
UGA- 1-1
UF- 1-0
Vandy- 1-0
USC- 1-2
Mizzou - 1-0

Since the year 2000, MSU has faced the East's most successful modern football team, Florida, 6 times - Winning 3 of those meetings. (2000, 2004, 2010).

I am making no claims. Overall, MSU has not been good, we all know this. But this is for modern context. East vs West.

Edit: If any of that is incorrect, I apologize.

Has to be someone from the East. 25% chance someone other than Florida or Georgia win the east and then a 5% chance they (SC, MIZ) pull off a freak miracle.

We were ahead in the 4th quarter in the 2013 Championship game and our now replaced DC could not figure out how to stop their option for his life. Freaking went to a 3 man line.

Don't blame the D.C.

It was the magic of N. Marshall. Even bammer could not stop him. He was a baller on the option.

Nice writeup

Arkansas literally muffed the game away against Florida in 06. Florida was beaten, then Fish happened. Never really in the game against Florida in 06?

If Austin Allen has a great year, which he might, the Hogs will be in contention. They will need some other players emerge as All-SEC type players to make that happen.

State will be a far better team this year than they were last year and if Fitz has improved even slightly, State will cause some major upsets this year.

This year will be States best chance to upset Bama. You've got the type of QB that (if his passing game has improved) that matches well against Bama. Of course your defense is not as good as theirs but it will be much improved over last year. They will also be coming off the LSU game and the LSU offense is a dark horse in this conversation right now. If Canada is as good as advertised, it could be a very long game for Bama win or lose. Then to have to turn around a face a dynamic DT QB like Fitz is gonna be a tough road for them.

Of course, if LSUs offense is like last year against them, it's a different story.
