The only reason I put Pearl in the range of discussion is because UL is not in the SEC. AU should have higher standards.

How does this:
quote:

Championships
NCAA Men's Division II Tournament Championship (1995)
Horizon League Tournament Championship (2003, 2005)
Horizon League Regular Season Championship (2004, 2005)
Southeastern Conference Regular Season Championship (2008)

Compare to this:
quote:

Championships
4 National (2003, 2009, 2011, 2012)
4 SEC (2001, 2003, 2009, 2012)
7 SEC Western Division (2001–2003, 2008–2009, 2012–2013)

I also heard Auburn hired Cecil Newton to be the new director of compliance and Pay Dye to be the student anti-alcohol abuse ambassador.

Why would you have ever thought this was funny enough to leave the space between your ears?

Pearl is a homerun hire. I'm surprised he took the job but it looks as is Aub has made the decision to commit to building the program. Congrats Aubies.

How so? Its def nowhere in the discussion of hiring Petrino. That dude is a narcissistic shitbag who has lied his entire career. I find it hilarious that Louisville took him back, him and Pitino will be besties.

But back to Pearl, so he got hit with some NCAA infractions - BFD. He did a great job at UT and if there's one thing you cant question about him it's how much he loves his players.

Great hire by Auburn. He will have them competing from day 1 imo and by years 2 and 3 they will be battling for NCAA bids.

Apparently you haven't done your homework on Pearl. Petrino has nothing on this POS.

You're right. They're both philanderers, so how many major NCAA violations has Petrino been involved in.....and when will Pearl finally be allowed by the NCAA to be involved with recruiting?
I can't believe that the Auburn Board of Trustees would actually allow their school to hire a HEAD COACH who couldn't even recruit his sport because he was under NCAA disciplinary sanctions.

What job was Saban fired from for lying to the NCAA?

And yes your dumbass is trying to compare basketball to football. I will go on record and say there is a 0% chance Bruce Pearl will come close to winning the NCAA tournament at Auburn. He might bring excitement for a while and make the team much better, but he is not a miracle worker. Cliff Ellis got Auburn to #1 in the country for a brief period and still couldn't compete in crunch time with the big boys in the tournament. Pearl will fare no better. It's not a knock because the same would be true if Bama hired him. That doesn't mean he wasn't a good hire and want help generate more interest in your program, but quit comparing this hire to Bama hiring Nick Saban. Bama hired Saban knowing he could get Bama back to the top because Bama has historically competed at that level. Auburn is what it is in basketball and the best they can hope for will never be good enough to beat the Duke's and Syracuse's of the world.

no it isn't. the NCAA giving him a 3 year show cause for what he did was low. What he actually did was a secondary violation. Had Pearl been up front with the NCAA, UT gets slapped on the wrist and Pearl is still in Knoxville. It was an absolutely ridiculous sanction they placed on him. Conversely, Missouri head coach Frank Haith was "honest" about paying a player. His suspension? 5 games. The NCAA has absolutely zero credibility. Auburn made a home run hire, and I have no doubt Pearl will have them competitive next year and highly competitive in a short time.

Louisville hiring Petrino was pure desperation. He's had ethical issues at every job he's ever been, and he's shown he has zero loyalty or integrity. The fact that he did it to Louisville in the past and they still hired him is just hilarious

Pearl took a dead UT program to the NCAAT every year he was in Knoxville and was a missed FT away from the final four. He also got UT to #1 in the nation while in Knoxville. he owned Billy Donavan. He took Wisonsin Milwaukee to the sweet 16. Set aside your hate for Auburn a minute.

because so many coaches have. Roy Williams never won a NC at Kansas. That didn't stop UNC from hiring him. i like how you want to ignore his DII national title like it doesn't show any value as a coach.
