One of the most amazing things I was last season was Bama being afraid to try a FG from the Auburn 13.

Nick is a great coach, but he had some major brain farts in that game.

Jalen Hurd could possibly be one. He played in a private school league, and I don't remember hearing his during the all-American games

fwiw he played 4A in TN, not in the private school division. Also he didn't play in the Army Game because he got hurt in the opener on ESPN and had surgery. Barely made it back in time for spring ball.

I going with Jacob Coker. I don't think there is a player in the nation with as much hype from their fans.

Hahaha. Spit up my coffee. Not surprising though that an Auburn fan spew stupid shite like this. Not only is Coker not getting hyped that much, your fan base has put a certain WR on a pedestal next to God.

PS - they aren't hyping Coker, they are just hoping he is better than the shite they currently have. No one, not even Bama fans expect him to put up great numbers. However, Auburn fans calling for the Heisman for Duke

In the long run, no, not a 'bust'.
But he didn't appear to be the player he's been hyped up to be when I saw him.

You haven't been on Rant then. Even PF was making fun of the way they were acting about him. I haven't seen anyone seriously calling for Duke to win the Heisman. They have been saying he will be a great addition to the team but we are a running team and he isn't going to the ball that much.

There is a difference in expecting a 5* WR and the number 1 JC player to be good and claiming a 3* backup QB with stats worse than who they have now being good just because.

But I wouldn't expect anything from a UGA fan but to claim Auburn fans are wrong. No matter what its about.

riiiiiiight

Alabama signed the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the country on Wednesday, hauling in one-third of the available five-star prospects and a school-record 19 ESPN 300 recruits. But no member of the 27-man signing class is more important than Coker, who has the hopes of an entire fan base pinned on him winning the quarterback competition in the fall and returning the program back to the national championship game next winter.

Coker to Alabama could be the biggest free agent pickup since Wisconsin-Russell Wilson. Similarly convenient timing.

— Stewart Mandel (@slmandel) January 26, 2014

Right now, the overwhelming consensus is that Coker will be the guy to win the job. If he does, he’ll have had to overcome a huge disadvantage in time and experience and win a quarterback competition for the first time in his collegiate career. After that, he’ll get his first meaningful action at the college level for an Alabama team with national title aspirations and a fan base that’s already running short on patience. For a quarterback that has done little more than hold a clipboard the last three seasons, that’s a tall order.

1. Alabama: The free-agent signing -- er -- transfer of Jacob Coker makes sure the circle will be unbroken for the Tide.

Oh Mr. Coker, Mr. Jacob Coker. Your anticipated arrival at the Capstone to join and likely win the quarterback race can’t come soon enough.

I still don't see any Heisman implications, or any unreasonable hype in what you posted. Do we expect him to win the job? Yes. Do y'all expect DW to win the job at WR? Yes.

Of course we expect him to lead us back to the title game. This isn't an expectation unique to Coker, as we'd expect any Bama qb to do so. Heck, Greg McElroy led us to a title, and he wasn't anything special. If Coker could be Greg McElroy on his way to leading us to the NCG most of our fanbase would be pleased. I've heard this from several Bama fans.Hoping he's at minimum the second coming of GMc doesn't sound like unrealistic expectations to me.

Fwiw most of the Coker Heisman talk here is just rustling jimmies. Y'all make it too easy

Bama signed SIX 5-stars last class, so the percentages would be pretty good that one of theirs would be.

I didn't see Rabern mention any Heisman implications, but I'm sure I could find them in BOL if I gave a shite to look. And in actuality, the dawg was the first one to bring up the heisman. But not with Coker winning it.

Really? Comparisons to Russell Wilson are perfectly logical? How about Reece Davis' opinion...
quote:

When Coker arrives at Alabama, we'll see what he brings to the table. He certainly has elite talent, an elite arm, elite size. Coker has the ability to come in and be that kind of guy for the Bama offense...a playmaker. In terms of pure skill set, Coker will have the best raw set of tools in a quarterback that Saban has coached since Jamarcus Russell.
All logical conclusions, huh? No hype at all surrounding Coker, huh?

Ummm, Dennis Dodd certainly claimed that Coker is the reason you are pre-season #1. Did you actually read what I posted?
