Even Arkansas has a top 25 rush defense. Come on Georgia!

Thought about you a bunch this week. Thought if UGA wins he is going to be going nuts! But when Richt gets a life time extension he is going to kill someone. lol

Not sure how many rush defenses would be top 25 after playing the wishbone in back-to-back weeks.

I amazed how difficult this simple concept is for some people. No Georgia is not the best defense against the run in college football. However, they are very good and much better than stats imply.

Not only did UGA have suspensions but they were big ones. One is projected by many as a top 20 pick in the NFL draft next season. The other was an All-American. Combine that with the fact that Jones was hobbled during a large span...a guy who many think is the NFL's top prospect this season.

You should also consider how many players had to play out of position to feel the gaps of the missing players. As a result, when the players returned they were playing in their normal position for the first time as well.

Georgia's first 16 players on defense are as good as any in college football. However, because of low scholarship numbers (65 I believe). For UGA they go from a safety All-American to a walk in.

Georgia has been able to avoid injuries in all of but two spots (LB,WR) but those were their deepest positions.

It's not a hard concept to understand and I do think they have improved on defense. The problem is that UGA fans would like everyone to believe this with the only proof is games against Ole Miss, Auburn, Ga South, and Ga Tech.

Yes you can say they have improved defensively but is it enough to contain Alabama rushing and passing attack. I don't think we can say that with alot of confidence right now because we're only allowed to use the last four games. We really don't know to what level has UGA defense improved. Did UGA improve defensively enough to keep bad teams like Kentucky from running down their throat or did they improve enough to stop a good team like Alabama from running?

Georgia has the most NFL "ready" talent in the nation on defense. Jenkins, Ogletree, Jones, Williams, and Rambo will all have a shot at starting at rookies on several teams in the NFL next season.

However, what you should know about UGA's defense is they are very much a momentum led defense. This is why Richt doesn't mind the talk going on. If Alabama struggles early against Georgia's defense, the Bulldogs are likely to play well all night.

My analysis is this.....Alabama's defense is built to stand for a complete season....However, Georgia's defense has the potential, on any given night, to dominate and shutdown any offense in America.

I know who they are and I agree they are good, but this doesn't mean anything. The 2009 Alabama team had probably two players that were NFL ready in McClain and Cody and I would still take that defense over the 2012 Georgia defense.

So they have the most NFL ready talent on defense in the nation but it took them a full four games and a bye week to get everything together.

They have the most NFL ready talent on defense and they have the potential to shutdown any offense in America. But this is all contingent on what type of cereal they have that morning because they are a momentum lead defense.

Momentum led defense? Ok... Good defenses are consistent not based on momentum. They rise to the occasion when the offense can't make a first down or fumbles deep in their own territory. Teams with great QB's live and die on the momentum of one person. That's why defense wins championships. Not ones that are momentum led. So, you're saying UGA's defense is average?

Lacy averages 6.1 yards per carry and Yeldon averages 6.6. UGA is not in the top 50 in rush defense so, yeah they will get 5-10yards a pop.

I told you dawgs that Lacy and Yeldon would destroy your DL. But even I didn't think we'd get 350 yards on the ground. Nice game with the rest of your team but dayum, how do you beat anyone giving up that many yards on the ground?
