They have top 3 resources in the SEC and they have now fired the coach they perceived to have hit a glass ceiling with their program. The OP answers his own post, their confidence is not in the past 3 years, it's in the reality of their current resources + future excitement.

LSU was relevant for like 5 minutes and they feel like they have a birthright to be mentioned in the same breath as Alabama.
Florida has been the most elite and relevant program in the modern era (outside of Alabama) and they are realistic about where they are right now.
LSU seems mystified.
There was a time not so long ago where Alabama felt like they should be winning national titles on a regular basis and acted like it--it was a long, long hangover after Bear.
I like to think Alabama fans are realistic and realize this era for what it is, unlikely to be repeated, by Alabama or anyone else.
For for god's sake don't act like the corn dogs when we eventually return to earth.
