Where does the confidence from LSU's fanbase come from?

I see a lot of bold statements and acts of grandeur and chest-beating this week from the LSU faithful. Specifically toward the fanbases of Arkansas and Alabama. While your devotion is to be applauded, I must ask where does the base for this behavior come from? Let us look at LSU's recent performances against the aforementioned schools.
2014:
Alabama, 20-13 OT L

I used to think it was false bravado, but I have come to learn that they have the most delusional fan base in the SEC by far.
I think it's the French ancestry. They feel they have the best everything and it's funny because it's not close to true.
The French are very similar about their culture, cuisine, and standing in the world. Lots of delusion.

Not too many fine dining restaurants out there in cuisine cities like NY, Chicago, New Orleans, LA; serving up $50 Chinese entrees.

Idk, a couple national championships and a 3rd appearance in the NC, plus several SEC titles and top 10 finishes in the last 15 years or so. Why do Arkansas fans even act like they are relevant in college football? You're like Indiana or some other obscure big 10 team. Never have mattered and never will
