Couldn't have gone any better for AU. Steele was expected to go pro and most likely is not turning down 700k as a juco transfer. Word is Del Torre was going pro pretty much wherever he was drafted and is set to make 290k signing bonus so those two guys were expected.

The fact that Burns, Williams and Julian (top Canadain middle infield prospect) have not been drafted as of round 9 is huge. This will be the best class AU has brought in ever with a complete class of national recruits.

We will mostly lose Todd as he was drafted in the 4th round and was somehow a freaking walk on so you know he isn't turning down the money.

Wasn't this an atypical class for Vandy? Looks like the next two classes are epic for the dores

May want to wait until tomorrow to see where Burns goes before getting too excited. 7th to 10th round picks are mostly college seniors and cheap throwaway picks for most organizations. Things will get real again in the 11th Round for the next couple. If someone really wants Burns, he'll get drafted and they'll come up with the money.

Several 11th round HS righties that signed for over $500,000 just last year

Fairly typical class. Got crushed by the draft last year so to see this happen this year is a great sign.

Can't believe how high Evan Steele got drafted. Happy for him and was sad to see him leave Vandy. Could have really used him this year.

Burns has already said he is coming to AU so I doubt he will get drafted anytime soon. Kinda like Keegan Thompson when he came out of High School. He basically said if he didn't go top 2 rounds not to draft him because he wasn't signing. That being said teams will come up with packages to get high level players regardless of where they are drafted. You see it every year with two sport athletes and some JUCO prospects.

Burns projected slot value was over 1 million. Teams don't have the slot money in the 11th round to come up with that. Plus, he tweeted he's coming to Auburn for sure, as did Steven Williams, who might be the key to this year's team.

What he says on twitter is meaningless - I'm saying he had a number in mind - it's about money not what round you. Unless he's delusional was thinking something like $1,000,000 as if he was really going to be a Top 35 draft pick...then yeah he's coming to AU.

Arkansas thought they were getting Tyler Benninghoff after the 2nd day last year - he ended up going in the 11th round and signing for $600,000.

It's part wishful thinking on my part as a Bammer and Burns is a talent who should be coming here still;

I certainly would not call it a sure thing for another couple weeks.

It all depends on who drafts him. The first $100,000 of a bonus for guys drafted from the 11th to 40th round don't count against the team's pool. It all depends on who drafts if they do - won't really know anything for a couple weeks.

I don't really pay attention to what kids tweet for the most part. Thought could change with a phone call - all it takes is one team.

As I said, I was at the hospital when Tanner was born.

The family had a "life changing sum of money" line and if Tanner fell below that, he was choosing college.

I spoke to his mom today - he's going to AU.

Trust me, I've been watching him since t-ball, after he decommitted from Alabama, I was crossing my fingers he would go pro. Auburn is getting a superstar and what I predict will become the face of their program - and not just because of his talent.

I know everyone says their hometown superstar is a "great kid" but Tanner Burns is an exceptional young man in many ways besides his baseball talent.

De La Torre didn't ever sign with Auburn.

Wasn't aware De la Torre didn't sign with AU. The Edourd Julian kid from Canada has blown up the last month or so and we are very fortunate if we can get him on campus. Looking good so far as he hasn't been drafted. I think he steps in as a true freshman and is AU's leadoff batter.
