For A&M:
Round 2, Pick 60: Adam Hall (Orioles) - Slot Value: $1,068,700
Round 4, Pick 128: Jack Conlon (Orioles) - Slot Value: $409,000
Round 5, Pick 161: Alex Scherff (Boston) - Slot Value: $296,500
I would expect Hall to never make it to Aggieland. It sucks, but we have solid middle infielders. Conlon & Scherff are going to take quite a bit over slot. I'm not so sure Boston will have a lot of money to give with no early first round pick and Mizzou's Houck as their first rounder won't take under slot I don't think.

Evan Steele went to Royals in 2nd. Ricardo De La Torre went in sixth to twins. Top rates signees Tanner Burns (#38 on top 200) and Steven Williams (#146 on top 200) are not picked yet, both are probably going to school.

This fricking blows. frick the Twins all their stack of cash.
Hopefully Cabrera stays on the board a lot longer.

fingers crossed on scherff. people saying he'd easily be the best freshman pitcher we've ever had.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't sign. Usually if picked in top 5 rounds, they have a deal worked out. You never know for sure though. There were only two top 10 round picks that didn't sign last year.

Maybe as far as a pitching prospect. Shew was pretty good this year. Scherff hit 103 on the gun. He's a true fireballer.

Wow, only 2. That doesn't seem accurate, but I couldn't tell you otherwise.
Looks like a trend towards only drafting guys you think you can sign. I guess pretty much everyone listed will be gone.
quote:
Not only did every first-rounder sign, a first since 2007, but the 2016 draft set a record low for unsigned picks in the first 10 rounds. Just two players—No. 41 overall selection Nick Lodolo, picked by the Pirates, and seventh-rounder Tyler Buffet, taken by the Astros—failed to sign. Lodolo instead will attend Texas Christian, while Buffet will return to Oklahoma State.
The previous record for fewest unsigned picks in the first 10 rounds was six, set last year and in 2014. In contrast, in the last year of the old system in 2011, 28 top-10-rounds picks did not sign, including three first-rounders. The fewest unsigned top-10-round picks before the current CBA was 14 in 2004.

Scherff wont make it to campus.

OF Bubba Thompson #26 to Rangers (he gone)
LHP Jacob Heatherly #77 to Reds (he gone)
That's it so far. Probably the only two that will get good enough money to sign unless there's a guy that really just doesn't want to go to school.

FWIW, he was projected as a 2nd rounder and texags is saying his (aggie) family is really well off. might have played a part in his draft position. trying not to get my hopes up.

Burns and Williams both just tweeted they are enrolling. Burns might be one of the best incoming freshmen ever at Auburn.

I was at the hospital when Tanner was born.
Auburn is getting a good player and great young man. That was the one negative of firing Gaspard, he decommitted from Bama and then committed to AU the day after he was fired.

I can't wait to see him play. He is by far the highest rated player who is likely to go to school.
