the East, but remains unranked...it will be the first time an unranked team has won an SEC divisional championship. The lowest ranked so far was 1998 Mississippi State & 1995 Arkansas (both at #23). It would only be the third time a team has won an SEC division with 3 conference losses (2010 USCe, 2002 Arkansas).

Aren't we ranked 19th?

um didnt Tennessee fire fulmer when he won the east?

No, they last won the East after the 2007 season, Fulmer was fired after going 5-7 in the 2008 season.

I think that LSU team is the only one to ever win an SEC championship with 3 conference losses.

Could butch be the first HC fired in the same season in which his team played in the conference championship game?

Not unless our program had a death wish and I'm not positive we don't, tbh. You can't really treat a coach that way given his improvements every year and making the SECCG in an injury ravished year where many coaches would've gone 3-8/5-7 (see UF in 2013 when they were beyond injury ravaged). It's about the future regardless of how long he's our coach and we fire him under the particular set of circumstances we're in (a program that adds to its W/L every year, including this one and makes the SECCG in a year where we've had 10-17 players out (most starters/contributors) and we show ourselves to be the definition of unreasonable.

Too many openings, imo, get into this offseason mess with that kind of self-inflicted harm and lose out on top candidates for being crazy.

He wouldn't be the first.

Gary Barnett at Colorado and Rick Neuheisel at UCLA are two examples that come to mind.

Butch will claim backing into the championship game as a Divisional Championship along with the possibility with a 'bowl championship', and it doesn't matter what bowl is it.

Can't back into a game when you've earned it on the field and beaten the leader head to head. Had UForfeit never dodged this game we never would've been behind in the race.

VOLS lost to South Carolina and Baby Shoes was out coached by an ape with a bowl cut. I was on board until that shitshow. Injuries should not have mattered against that slaw arse team.

Still looking forward to the opportunity to march into the Georgia Dome after tailgating and watch muh Big Orange get boat raced back to Knoxville tho

So? shite happens (tOSU lost to Va Tech and there are countless others), Teams drop games they shouldn't. And we had more than our fair of shite and bullshite going on before and after that game. SC was a bad loss and there's no way around that but it's not the end of the world. We're one game behind where we thought we'd be despite having 10-17 players missing games at any given time. Dobbs had his worst game ever and without those injuries D picks up the slack although Barnett gave a valiant effort anyway but he's just one guy.

If you'd told me we'd lose the guys we have for most or all of the year at the beginning I'd have drastically lowered expectations. You would've too.

That said, I'm not telling you to be on board because I'm still wait and see myself and unhappy with a lot of what we saw early on but I'm not the type to just look at one game. I'm looking forward to the staff changes this off-season and while whoever wins the QB job likely won't be the playmaker Dobbs is when he's on, they also won't be so damned dreadful when he's off and he was terrible against SC (throwing dirt balls when he wasn't under pressure and more).

Actually LSU won both the West and the SEC champ in 2001 with 3 SEC losses

edit didn't finish thread to see someone else brought it up already

East titles are 100% meaningless and should be treated as such. If VOLS back in to ATL and Butch celebrates it I hope he is fired on the spot. Just a totally embarrassing season.

A miracle win over Bama ( ) would be the only way I could support his employment next season.
