LINK

A lightning fast 21-0 first quarter blitz put UGA behind and unable to catch up.

Georgia only narrowly avoids the shutout with a late 4th Q touchdown.

Seems like a lifetime ago now.

Winning a title has been such an indescribable weight lifted that I don't even mind going back and watching highlights like this. If nothing else it makes me appreciate how far we've come.

As an aside, I knew some of the training staff during those days and got to attend DawgNight when Ace Sanders was a recruit. He put on a show and everyone there raved about how much he stood out. But apparently we were concerend abotu his size and didn't push hard enough and he went to SC and obviously did great there.

One of those rare stadium environments that dictated the outcome of the game before kickoff. That was as lit a stadium as I’ve ever seen

It was. I was there in the nosebleeds and got to witness UGA fans fighting each other. Glorious game.

It was.

That 3 week stretch was brutal:

vs. #5 UGA
@ #9 LSU
@ #3 Florida

I know Georgia fans who were at that game, and every time it gets brought back up they get that look on their face like they’re having a bad flashback….probably because they are.

Carolina fans should be as proud of that night as the players are. That atmosphere was all-time level great.

This, and that game was Exhibit 1 for why UGA fans got tired of Mark Richt. USC had a good team that year, but we should have been in that game. Getting blown out like that with players like Gurley on the team was inexcusable.

LSU won that game 23-21. I'd hardly call it an arse whooping. I was at that game too and the atmosphere in Tiger Stadium was wild that night.

I honestly believe that season was one of the greatest achievements by the South Carolina program as a whole. Lattimore, Shaw, and Thompson did awesome that season. You can consider that season to be historical that really elevated that program to it's highest peak.

Spurrier was a wizard I hate him but he’s a top 5 all time coach in this conference. He took two programs that were irrelevant at the time of his arrival and made them elite or close to it in Carolina’s case

Don't forget he did it with Duke as well. Co-Champs in 1989 for the first time in like half a century (pre Florida State ACC BTW)
Has Spurrier say, worked a little harder, he'd have won more national titles at Florida. Its no secret, he wasn't a workaholic and towards the end of his South Car tenure was hardly around but his knowledge of offensive football, formations and timing of the right play calling was off the charts

Spurrier is truly a once in a generation type of coach.

A genius, and a character. Most are either one or the other.

Richt's teams were nearly always good for 3 or 4 games where they just didn't show up at all. Could be against somebody good or somebody bad. BTW, I'm praying for you to regain your health, Coach Richt.
