HD TV and nearly every Power 5 game available to watch on cable/direcTV/FIOS/U-Verse, etc.
The viewership experience is simply better and cheaper when staying at home than watching in person. Cheaper and better food, no bathroom lines, and you can drink as much as you want during the course of the game.

Why? They both started at the same time! It's up to her to keep up.

Long time ago, someone was bitching about Bear Bryant why he should make more than the professors. His answer was; "when you can get a history professor to put 80,000 people in a classroom then we should make the same".

amitch11 ... probably in minority here, but I agree with you. I believe it started with the beginning of the BCS and the importance it placed on deciding a national champion.

I think you're mad that we suck
You sound like a bandwagon fan

Win and it's fun again.
Stadiums, tailgating, traditions, band, rabid fanbases. There's nothing like college football.
Sure, there's some crap to go along with it. It's still the best the sporting world has to offer though

The attitude you take towards football is up to you. Some of us have seen the changes through the years(some good, some not) and still love the thrill of the unknown outcome before the game. The hogs have not really been good since joining the SEC but believe it or not the games are more fair than they used to be. Money drives everything so there will always be some bs to deal with.

I personally liked it better pre BCS/playoff.
The old bowl tie-ins were good for arguing who was better. They still argue till this day. The 4 team playoff just isn't that memorable.

At least it produces a real national champion.

Not at all - been around Carolina football all my life. Class of '90 - sat through 0-21. Has nothing to do with Gamecovk football BUT the college football atmosphere as a whole.

I believe the 70's and 80's are the golden era of college football. Keith Jennings "whoa Nellie", ap national champions, blue chip recruits (no star system), listening to the games on the radio since only one maybe two games per week were televised. Maybe I'm just getting old

College football no longer has that electric feel from the past - where the excitement came from pride in your university. Now it seems the college football experience is nothing more than a multi billion dollar feeder industry for the nfl.
It has been that way for a while. I agree with some of this, mainly based on the gameday crap that happens now. Too much hype, too many "honorees" at every time-out. Too many videos, too many pop song clips.
It isn't what it was back in the day. It is an advertisement wrapped in a marketing plan.

College football is always fun and unpredictable. It's more fun when your team you like is winning haha

When your team has a chance/shot at a title, it seems the season's fate hangs in the balance on every single play. Its nerve wracking. I almost need sedatives to watch a game.
I can watch the NFL and really not care at all who wins. But college football stirs up a hatred for the opponent that I just don't get from the Pros.

i think it's still exciting. every season i am continually surprised at how continually surprised i am. cfb never fails to surprise me or disappoint, each week. i was riveted by the auburn/ark game, not just because it was 4ot but also to see where the 2 teams land in the pecking order. it's such a dog fight every week.
i also find that there is absolutely, unequivocally no substitute for being there. the lsu/fla game was incredible. my stomach was in a knot the whole game. the last 2 lsu/bama games in b.r. have been unbelievable. some of the best fb i've ever seen. watching at home is great because i'm sometimes rocking 5 or 6 games at once on big weekends.
on the subject of espn - couldn't care less. i NEVER watch gameday, 30 for 30, sportscenter, etc. i can't stand that crap. i will watch for the sid story this weekend though but, that is a rare, rare exception and has almost nothing to do with the gameday garbage.
the old bowl system and the subjectivity - hated it. the arguments about who is better, i find totally stupid. i liked the bcs better and i like the playoff even better. there's still plenty of room for trash talk every season.

The game itself is still as exciting as it used to be (except when your team is losing). However, the in person, at the stadium experience has gotten progressively worse.
As someone already posted, you have as much, if not more, piped in music than the band playing. You have idiots sitting around you that want to socialize more than they want to watch a game. Add to that TV contracts have screwed up game times. It sucks leaving home before 7 AM to get to a noon kickoff, or not getting home until after midnight when your team was chosen for the 7:30 ESPN slot.

Spurrier did more for SoCar than Lou Holtz and in the long run the way Spurrier left was better for SoCar bc they can have the new coach ready by the season's end which can save recruiting.

Week 4, when we lost to UK. I knew then that it was going to be a rough season.
However, my NFL team is over .500 and has one of the best RBs in the league so I have that. Thanks UGA!
