College football no longer has that electric feel from the past - where the excitement came from pride in your university. Now it seems the college football experience is nothing more than a multi billion dollar feeder industry for the nfl.

Coaches are larger than the university. Look at Spurrier. He held the football program hostage answerable to no one and left on his terms; terms which has crippled the SCAR program for the foreseeable future. Va Tech, FSU during the Bowden era, Penn State with Joe Pa- the list goes on and on.

So what has happened? Assistant coaches paid more than tenured professors. Television contracts?

I don't know - what I do know is college football has lost it's way

Huh? It is a bit premature to say that.

Steve Spurrier is the sole reason that pussy football is alive today. He popularized a pass happy offense and gave birth to coaches like Briles and Sumlin.

If USC started winning SEC titles you might feel different. I think the passion is still there for most programs. I think the student sections have changed and their priorities have changed which could change things as we go forward. It's a different market now for college sports especially football. When the older fans move on it will definitely change. I've gone from attending all homes games and occasional road games to only about half of home games as I get older.

I am going to go out on a limb and say about the same time Nick Saban came to Alabama. That's the day it stopped being fun for a lot of teams and their fans.

It all comes down to ESPN. With the rise in online media and influence that goes along with it we see recruits and fans paying more attention to conferences and TV deals than their actual team. Look no further than the 80s the golden era of CFB. You would have never heard an LSU fan hoping for Alabama to win the NC if LSU loses. CFB is more annoying now than anything else. Not to mention $$$ killing off a lot of the best rivalries and big games in the sport.

Spurrier gave USC the only real taste of success they've ever had, that's why he was bigger than USC football

Your team's suckage =/= college football suckage. Take a Zanax and come back here in January.

I'm an Alabama fan and it's not as fun to me as it once was. Going to games in Tuscaloosa has turned into a hassle, ticket prices are outrageous, parking is overpriced, cheesy music on the PA has replaced the band, etc.

I still watch every game, and go to 2-3 a year, but I just don't get the enjoyment out of it like I used to.

Wow, you only pay attention to SEC programs don't you?

The Fun 'N' Gun was just a rebranded Run & Shoot from the previous decade.

Of course an OU fan would bitch about that.

You lost in conference realignment. Not everyone did. Deal with it.
