I get tired of hearing les won a natty as if it's the same as everyone else's in the bcs era. He fell bass ackwards into a natty. The fact that he lost to two unranked teams in 07 is only further evidence of his ineptitude as a coach.

Now he did actually earn a birth legitimately at the end of 2011 but then he lost the game that no lsu fan will ever forgive him for.

and warranted or not (he was the coach, so he has to have some credit), i think that's a prime reason lsu needs to part ways ... he's had a good run, won some games and all that, but he is not going to take lsu to another level unless he completely changes his offensive philosophy, and i don't see that happening ...

Emory Ballard, Royal's OC at Texas, developed the wishbone while there.

they will have to accept the risk, like bama and everyone else, of someone who is not a home run hire ...

Risk, that's the key. Not only do they have to deal with a buyout, but in a year with lot of coaching changes they have to compete with a lot of other schools and the only homerun hires are at other schools, which means they may have to pay that buyout as well. Even those aren't homeruns.

There's going to be some surprises in this offseason and some tactical patience would serve LSU well right now.

Unless the AD has a real ace up his sleeve, then LSU needs to sit tight for another year at least.
