He will be remembered as a great coach that for some reason, with all the talent he had at Florida, could only win one championship.....that was a mulligan at that.

He'll retire once he breaks The Bear's total SEC wins record.

Bubba will be promoted to take his place.

The HBC will go back and forth between his home here and Crescent Beach ... because almost all of his kids and grandkids will still be here, a half dozen of them having been born here. Plus Scotty and his wife are here and still involved. Bubba's wife is a big wig at the School of Nursing. Augusta National is an hour away and Spurrier has his beach house here as well.

I give him six more years here ... if he is close to The Bear's record in four years, he'll definitely stay long enough to break it.

One caveat. If by some good graces of the Good Lord and the football gods Spurrier were to win a SECCG and win a National Championship .... who knows, he may bow-out on top. Then again, with these next two recruiting classes he is putting together to add to this young team he has this year, he may stick around regardless.

So I'll revise my prediction and type that he'll retire when he runs out of "firsts" to add to his list here at SC. He stays in excellent shape so comparing him to JoePa or to Bobby Bowden is not apples to apples. Spurrier is very young for his age and his mind is still very sharp.

I think he retires before too long. He would've only gone JoePa if he'd stayed at Florida. Clearly he'd had enough there so I think he'll have enough of USC eventually too.

I don't believe this. OBC is "this close" to having USCe at an elite level.

Saban will retire before Spurrier does. Why retire? He has a nice cush job.

TOBC calls up Peter Coors and says "Let's give that old dried up Dos Equis frick-up a run for his money."

Hell's gates will open and Satan's own personal guard will escort him with honor down to the eternal fires.

Dude loves golf more than coaching now anyways. So no. Dude will retire in 1-3 years, buy a golf course and not allow anyone but himself to play on it.

And possibly Fulmer and Richt..so he can continue to own them at life.

Wrong. This is from an interview with him in the September issue of the Columbia Metropolitan magazine, Steve Spurrier: Uncensored

quote:

Q: You’re about to start your 9th season at USC. Do you think you’ll spend 12 years here?
A: There are very few guys coaching who are 68 years old. You know why? They’ve been fired. No one ever says, “I’ve had enough.”

If he wins a title at USce he will retire and work for UF in some manner. I'm thinking we hire him to play the greens to make sure they are ready before the golf team. Also we may hire him part time to teach Muschamp a perfect visor throw when mad at the refs.
