It's easy to tell who hasn't actually been to Athens because they mention "all that barking."

LSU, Ole Miss and Bama are fun.

USC is the worst.

does a person like you who lives in a rural town like New Ellenton travel much?

Considering I have been to every state except Alaska, I'd say kinda-sorta.

This
The only time you'll hear barking is tailgaiting or walking to games on Sat. I've NEVER heard it in Athens otherwise, especially downtown. I know I'm partial but Athens is a beautiful college town with arguably the best college bar scene/downtown in the U.S.

One of the best experiences I've had was at LSU after we beat them. People were friendly, sharing their food and alcohol. Campus is pretty, can get really muggy early in the season. Bama and Ole Miss have beautiful campuses. The Ole Miss Bar scene is cool but too quaint for me after being used to Athens.

USCe has an awesome fraternity/sorority row, but other than that......... People there are very friendly but the campus and bar scene leave a lot to be desired. Auburn's building all match, but it's in the middle of nowhere and the bar scene is very sub par. The area surrounding UT is kinda pretty with the river and all. You'd think they would do a lot more with it. I have nothing good to say about the rest, so I won't say anything.

Do you think fans of other SEC teams visit Athens on non-game weekends?

The Horseshoe area of SC's campus is as good as the old part of UGA's campus. It is also a more compact campus than UGA.

I've been to games everywhere but LSU and Mizzou. Here's a dirty secret: they're all good.

Yes, Starkville was a lot of fun. Athens might be my favorite just because of extreme proximity to a happening downtown.

Not so much the campus as the towns/cities

-Tuscaloosa is okay. Being there for a home game is incredible, but the town is pretty meh otherwise
-Really enjoy the areas around Vandy
-Didn't care for Baton Rouge. Was only there for a day
-Columbia, Mo is a great town, but gamedays there are really lame
-went to Starkville for a Thursday night game with LSU. The town sucked. The stadium sucked. And cowbells are the worst.
-CS sucks
-Lexington is a weird town. Driving sucks there. Did have fun downtown.

Haven't been to Fayetteville in 25 years. Only driven through Gaineville and Knoxville. Will visit Athens in the next couple months, and maybe Columbia, SC.

Haven't been to Auburn or Oxford.

like the downtown area. lots of bars and such for nightlife. Florida is a much better state than everyone except Texas.

I hate to say, but it's actually true.

Years ago, maybe 2008, USC was in town. I was wearing a faded black uga shirt, and I guess alot of people mistook me for a Carolina fan, and I got barked at obnoxiously by brain dead frat boys drunk at 11am and couldn't see the damn bulldog in the middle of the shirt... just saw the USC-ish color scheme and decided I was a cock fan and barking in my face. It happened more than once that day.

I don't think that one could really enjoy Lexington fully if you didn't know someone who was from there. I don't mean a student. For a town that takes in over a billion per year in tourist direct spend, we don't make the good shite very obvious.
