the series is tied 15-15 the last 30, and State leads 13-12 the last 25 which also coincides with SEC expansion. I know this is "cherry picking" but if you take out the Johnny Vaught years which we were 2-19-4 the series is 42-42-1.
This is actually what made me laugh.

It also says since integration Ole Miss is about as good as MSU.
Ole Miss was legit up through the early 1970s. Their "Golden Age" of football was from about 1952-1963. They had one more 3-year run of true success in '69, '70, and '71. And then their program literally fell off a cliff.
As far as AP Poll Points from 1936-1971, here are how the top programs in college football looked:
1. Notre Dame- 555
2. Oklahoma- 410
3. Michigan- 383
4. Alabama- 382
5. Tennessee- 368
6. Ohio State- 367
7. Texas- 358
8. USC- 301
9. LSU- 271
10. Ole Miss- 268
Other (current) SEC:
14. Arkansas
21. Auburn
22. Georgia
24. Missouri
34. Texas A&M
49. Kentucky
52. Florida (!)
61. Mississippi State
86. Vanderbilt
94. S. Carolina
Ole Miss was a Top 10 program in those days. But beginning in 1972, they disappeared from the rankings. Here is how the AP Poll Points have looked from 1972-2016:
1. Ohio State- 641
2. Alabama- 631
3. Oklahoma- 626
4. Michian- 590
5. Nebraska- 569
6. Florida St.- 562
7. USC- 517
8. Penn State- 481
9. Miami- 442
10. Florida- 440
Other SEC:
13. Georgia
14. Auburn
15. LSU
16. Tennessee
19. Texas A&M
23. Arkansas
43. S. Carolina
44. Missouri
50. Ole Miss
55. Mississippi State
65. Kentucky
88. Vanderbilt
Sure enough, since '72 there has been very little distinction between Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
Ole Miss has a slight advantage in the AP Poll since '72, although they both have just 9 AP Top 25 finishes since '72. Ole Miss does lead the head-to-head series 25-20.

Yep, and that coincides about the time of full SEC integration.

If only we all could've been as lucky as Alabama to have played both Mississippi schools + Vanderbilt annually through most of our history while dodging the majority of the Big 6 most years. With 3 auto wins every year maybe we all could have 20 claimed national championships and a false sense of accomplishment
You try way to hard.

Your level of hatred and irrational thought toward Alabama is incredible. There's no way to rationalize it without some personal atrocity having befallen you at the hands of an Alabama fan. Someone go "Mr. Steal Your Girl" on you while wearing a Bama hat?

I think the bottom line they didn't play was about money, as is generally the case
That and Bama demanded referees that were from the South and Auburn insisting that the game be refereed by neutral officials from elsewhere.
Shocking, yes, I know.

Auburn fans turning a thread about record vs Ole Miss into an Alabama vs Auburn thread. Nice.
Auburn isn't even close to Alabama's level in anything except cheating. Congrats?

It is incredible how historically
Alabama has only played 22 games in Starkville since 1896, with the majority occurring between 1988 and present day. Bama didn't play MSU in Starkville from 1962-1988 and there are numerous streaks where MSU played only in Alabama (1933-1946, 1952-1957)

Not wanting to pay to bring in officials from the North for a fledgling game in 1908? The horror.

Gotta hand it to Bama... they recognized how their butter was breaded even way back when.

So what? Bobby Dodd never played in Mississippi. Never played Mississippi State at all. Played Ole Mi$$ but twice. In Atlanta and New Orleans.
"Ole Miss and Georgia Tech played in 1946, in Atlanta, and in 1953, in New Orleans in the Sugar Bowl. Against Mississippi State? Between 1933 and 1963, the Bulldogs and the Yellow Jackets never played a game against each other. According to legend, Dodd felt that Georgia Tech was too good to have to travel to places like Oxford and Starkville to play football games, so he never would agree to play the Mississippi schools."

That's funny because a Mississippi State fan told me the same thing last night. And an LSU fan on Saturday. Crazy how I have time to be obsessed with so many different schools.
Orrrr. Maybe. Just maybe that's the only response you dolts can come up with when you read a hard truth about your school that you don't like but also can't deny or argue otherwise because you know it's true.

This thread had absolutely nothing to do with Alabama though.

Actually this thread has to do with literally any team that has ever played Ole Miss
Damn. You're the worst Korin ever. A complete disgrace to your namesake

So, you're an equal opportunity shitposter. That's definitely something to brag about.
