I meant no disrespect .....
My point is, Florida will be looking for a HC soon....
I can remember John Bond kicking our arse!
True?

He's the second best coach in the SEC.

Definitely an arse hole. Beyond that, not sure.

If he'd had just the talent Spurrier had those 2 or 3 years at USCe I think he may have a trophy
Mullen has had plenty of talent at State. He just had a 3 year starter at QB that was NFL ROY, made the Pro Bowl, and led his team to one if the best records in the NFL. Fletcher Cox is one of the best DTs in the league now too.
State just doesn't have the depth to keep up. Talent wise most years they're comparable to the Spurrier USCe teams. But since he's been there in 2009 the West has been considerably tougher. If State was in the East he could've gotten them to Atlanta at least once to get blown out in a similar 56-17 style like USCjr did.

Well Saban is by far and away the best coach in the SEC.
I love said isolation.

As a State alum and fan for 50+ years, CDM has been a perfect fit at State. He understood from the getgo that he would build the program with blue collar kids from MS, AL, LA and GA. He did that and had success and then has gradually recruited better talent each year. Again we are never going to get all the elite kids. However, we have made some inroads now to where we are recruiting at a pretty high level in the present day. Kids see that they can come to State, play on winning team and move to the NFL.
Going forward I believe we will continue to be a solid, stable team and every 3-4 years have a chance to make a run at the Division.
No longer are we anybody's door mat. We have a team that can beat anybody on a given Saturday.
So his strategy for success at State has been spot on. At some point if he moves on, I will wish him well. Hopefully he stays in Starkvegas a few more years.
And State at one time back in the 1950's and 60's might have been the hardest FB job. Not anymore though, you have a great campus, great stadium, a nice town and so a lot of ingredients are in place for success in the present day.

Reminds me of Mr. Haney from Green Acres, or the usual Cousin Eddie references.

Good, not great HC.
Strong developer of QBs
Good Offensive mind
I'd be curious to see how successful he can be at a school with a lot more resources than MSU.

State has talent but not depth at those positions. State has Jamal Peters, Leo Lewis, Jeffrey Simmons. There is a big gap in between first and second team

He is in a great spot though. He gets paid $4.2 million a year without any crazy expectations. Just go to a bowl and beat Ole Miss every few years
Yea, that's some pretty smart coaching in of itself.

Can be too conservative at times.

Maybe but I think his game prep is what he fails at the most
