yes i know they dont get an automatic bid 
i havent seen duke or UNC win the ACC and not get 1 or 2 seed though

Think about the vendors and the tickets that are being sold. The advertisers for the tourney, the cable outlets. All they care about is money except when 25 players have to split up 11.7 scholarships.
Plus...what else will the kids do until Regionals begin ? Get in trouble ?? An idle mind is the devil's workshop. Kids need to play ball. School is out.
