Either Florida or LSU when they beat Ohio State for the national championship.

When we beat Texas Tech in the Cotton Bowl it got pretty loud.

Exactly. I am totally dickriding Barn for the recruiting bump their win would give us.

Perhaps, because they were going to the SEC championship?

I seem to recall hearing the chant in Atlanta in the 4th quarter after we destroyed Tennessee's hopes of going to Pasadena in 2001. But maybe my memory is shot.

I think Genro is right. Who knows who started it but I think it used to have more to do with being conference champs than the current usage would imply.

I don't cheer for the competition. I'm not a women's basketball coach.

Right. There have been plenty of recruits, especially in Texas, who pass up the "big state school" to come play in the SEC. And a good number of those guys have come out and said "I want to play in the SEC" or "I want to compete with the best and the SEC offers that"...

For me it was LSU vs Oregon at Jerry World as the clock was winding down....it was deafening.

I was there for that.

It was so awesome. Their fans I ran into outside the stadium were terrible sports. They were so freakin sensitive. Saw atleast 5 different Oregon fans try to get in college kid's faces for a single Tiger Bait!

Being there for the end of that one was glorious.

Oregon fans have perpetual blue balls. Imagine Florida fans in the 90s without a national title to hang their hat on yet. Perpetual blue balls because they can't land the trophy wife.

Unlike Oregon State fans who know we married the fat chick and don't give a shite. She puts out and has a warm beaver for those chilly winter nights. Loyal to a fault.

I have no eye dear where LSU fits into this analogy. Something about Saban leaving us behind to raise the baby I'm sure.

At least I will admit it. Telling Texas kids "well if you want any shot at a title the only way is in the SEC" seems to work well and will continue to work well as long as its true.

I think it's a unique scenario when you're recruiting against teams that aren't in the SEC, but for LSU and all their instate kids, most of their competition is SEC teams. Conference prestige really helps A&M, and I don't have any blood thirst for any SEC programs so I'm all for it. It's a self fulfilling prophecy for us.
