They damn sure were in 2010 when Jefferson was terrible and Ridley still had 1100+ yards.
Ehh, he averaged 4.6 ypc. Let's not pretend that is somehow impressive. And against FBS teams with winning records, it sunk to 4.07.

Like most of the SEC besides us I'll believe that they'll have a shitty RB when it happens.

I didn't say they'd have a shitty RB or shitty running game. I just said I don't think their running game will be as scary.

164 yds & 1 TD vs Bama
304 yds & 4 TDs vs SEC East Champ Mizzou
195 yds & 2 TDs vs National Champ FSU

They'll have good RBs as usual, but I don't think any of their individual stats will look like that this year against the three best teams they play.

I agree and LF won't be Jeremy Hill against their line. Like I said intriguing matchup.

Man, there was a 7 game stretch in 2010 when Jefferson threw no passing touchdowns. He was handing it off, and he was handing it off to Ridley.

If Ridley wasn't on that team, we probably have 7 wins that year. Ridley was a very good college running back, and is a very good pro.

[quote plus a defense that will look like 2011. I shite you not. [/quote]I don't understand (other than optimism) what makes you think this. They'll be better than last year, but 2011 was the best defense I've seen at LSU. We'll have 2 first year starters at DT and talented, but inexperienced depth. Plus, a suspended starting FS. We'll be good on D, but a 2011-type D I'd have to see to believe.

The thing I will enjoy most about this football season, is seeing Auburn fall short of expectations. The bar has been set waaayyyy too high!

Auburn will win big if he does that, you obviously didnt see the spring game

Lol did Marshall even have a spring game? Was your defense even good? Yet you still went 12-1 in the SEC. That proves a few things, all you need is a power run game, a QB that makes few mistakes, and luck.

Your leading WR coming into 2013 was Coates with all of 6 catches 114 yards and 2 TDs. Dural had that. The rest of your WRs were pathetic. We have the #1 WR coming in along with the #10 WR and our #5 ranked TE in his second year on the team, not to mention the #1RB who had 750 yards and 6 TDs receiving in his last year of high school. Dude, we are more prepared coming into 2014 than y'all were coming into 2013.

We have way more coming into this year than you did last year. Our QBs have trained with Cam, and both have went out go San Diego to learn under Whitfield.

Yeah, I know what you are saying but I'm evaluating your logic and it seems to be contradicting itself.

Yeah, he's a retard. Did we not almost beat a Cam Newton lead Auburn in Jordan Hare in 2010 with the worst passing game we've had in decades? That was only Chavis' second year too. In 2011 we destroyed everybody on nothing but defense, run game, and special teams. All we need is a game manager at QB to win the SEC.

Jesus. Who's the Mathieu? Reid? Claiborne? Logan, Brockers, etc. DJ Welter as Kevin Minter? Come on guys..

Brockers wasn't even known, Logan was a backup in 2011, Minter wasn't even good in 2011 (he blew up in 2012). We have a Claiborne in White and Robinson. We don't have a Reid, but he also didn't dominate til the 2011 season.

Mathieu is a rare player so no we don't have that, but the rest of what you said was utter nonsense.

Just be sure to tune in this season, nobody knew who Mathieu, Reid, Claiborne, Logan or Brockers was before 2011 either.

Or Mingo or Montgomery. There wasn't a known commodity on defense other than Claiborne and Mathieu. Reid showed some good traits in 2010, but didn't hit the map til 2011. That whole defense came out of nowhere almost.

I believe it. I think Bama will be solid on D. But 2011 level? Nah. Neither team will approach that this year.

No, our defense was not as good as your defense. We can reach our defensive goals, the only way somebody reaches your's is if they are like Michigan State or FSU/VT playing a bunch of crappy arse offenses.

Teams weren't stacking the box last yr.

ESPN stat, 86 of Hill's 203 carries were with 8 or more men in the box. Hill averaged over 8 yards a carry against the stacked box. Did you not see how many times everybody would stack the line only for Hill to break through with no last line of defense to stop him? It happened a lot.

I know LSU fans retort is they have Cameron now, so Miles isn't near as involved in the O. Based on several occasions last year, I would strongly disagree with that.

What occasions would those be?

Teams stacked the box against Jefferson and LSU went undefeated in the regular season.

Harris unlike Jefferson can actually throw the ball.

Should LSU be concerned?

Sure, but it's not going to be a 8-4 season like many are hoping for this year.

If Mett was so great LSU wouldve won the SEC last year

He was good enough to the beat the SEC champs...and losing 8 starters on D to the NFL is why didn't win the SEC, Mett had a great season.
