Fournette is being overrated a bit IMO. Not because he lacks talent, but because of the way Miles utilizes the RB's.

Kind of a weird thing to say considering Jeremy Hill was 17th in the country in rushing yards (1,401) and 11th in touchdowns (16)

With a vet at QB and 2 vets at WR that could stretch the field. This yr will be completely different.

which wasn't the point you made in the previous post. You said Fournette was overrated because of the way Miles uses his running backs. The numbers discredit that.

But to poke a hole in your new point:

In 2008 when Jarrett Lee was a first year starter and threw 1,000 interceptions, Charles Scott had 1,208 yards and 18 touchdowns.

In 2010 when Jordan Jefferson averaged 109 passing yards per game, Steven Ridley rushed for 1,147 yards and 15 touchdowns.

ETA: Point being, its a myth that Miles won't play his best running back enough to put up decent numbers. LSU has an abundance of RB's and they'll get carries to spell the main guy but theres almost always a #1 who gets the lions share.

I know this is a troll thread but whatevs. The LSU/AU game will be interesting this year for sure.

On defense LSU stacks up well against AU's attack. They have the ends to disrupt the rhythm of Marshall especially since GRob is gone.(Shon maybe a former 5* but he's not Robinson). However I'm still not sold on LSU's LB corp so I'll call it a wash with how good the AU RBs are. The best matchup will be the RR and Tre against Duke and Sammie. That'll be fun especially if Duke goes off.

On offense LSU will of course be run heavy with the loss of so much production and I don't see cam trying to test what should be an improved AU secondary on the road. That means that AU's front seven vs those road graters will determine how effective LF/Magee will be. I foresee the TE being used a lot for LSU to keep the AU safeties from stacking the box.

My point was Miles will rotate backs more because they will be running the ball more.

Auburn doesn't really scare me that much. That type of offense is what LSU's D is best suited to stop. Which is why Auburn struggled last year until they got so far behind that they ditched the gimmicks and had to let Marshall throw it. 33 passes was his second most in a game last year. Plus I don't see them pulling off a bunch of last second miracles this year. I've got them at 3-4 losses.

because teams might be able to stack the box.

So no different than the last 6 years?

Yeah, LSU doesn't have anyone who can hand the ball off.

They damn sure were in 2010 when Jefferson was terrible and Ridley still had 1100+ yards. We've yet to see how Cameron will respond to consistently stacked boxes but in the past Miles+OC DGAF. They'll run right at it 1st, 2nd and 3rd down.

Last year they were one dimensional against y'all. This year they'll be more dangerous through the air and like I said your LBs still don't impress me.

Outside of Welter (who we all know is pretty bad), Chavis said we have 5 linebackers that will be in the NFL. it's on paper our most athletic corps in school history.

I'm more worried about teams potentially gashing us up the middle, which really just merits concern from Alabama. I think Anthony Johnson leaving is an excellent example of "addition by subtraction". I have seen first hand that he's a total stoner and just a waste of talent. great guy, but a waste. anyways, we look pretty damn good on paper everywhere on D except for DT. We need someone of Bain, Gilmore, and Herron to step up

I agree on the DT situation. Chavis wouldn't throw a kid under the bus either. Didn't he just say Welter had the best spring he's seen or some shite? Spring is sunshine pumping time it is known.

This thread got off track. The True Frosh is hyped because he is a beast. Regardless of how good LSU is at QB - the guy has the power and speed to act like a seasoned SEC RB. True Frosh usually tire down the stretch if you don't rotate them - but the hype is legit purely based on his size and speed. I think he brings a skill set LSU needs this year. Teams will stack the box, but if the big fella breaks a tackle - watch out. LSU and UA will have the same type backs. Expect another 9-6 game out of them this year.

Well, Auburn ain't gonna have Mason and I don't think their running game will be as scary as last year. He was a stud. Mason even broke a 1,000 yards in Chizik's offense on that pathetic team in 2012, so he wasn't just a system player. He was just a great player.

Always tough to win at Auburn, but the early forecast is showing a light drizzle...so LSU 40 Auburn 3.

Well yeah, he can only get better

Kwon, Debo, Beckwith, Clifton Garrett, and lamar Lewis all have NFL athleticism. Kwon and Debo are stupid fast, as is Beckwith for his size

Unless you went to Baton Rouge for the spring game, I'm pretty sure you didn't see it either, seeing as how it wasn't televised and all...

linebackers are usually chiefs specialty and its usually an area of strength on the team.

~Kelvin Sheppard
~Ryan Baker
~Kevin Minter
~Lamin Barrow

Just to name a few from recent years. I wouldn't count on LB being a weakness for too long.

Chief isn't really known for his media presence. He really doesn't say much. I can't imagine him singling out one underperforming guy just to pump sunshine up everyones arse. And this is coming from someone who was a vocal critic of Welter last year.

Like most of the SEC besides us I'll believe that they'll have a shitty RB when it happens. Grant, CAP, Barber and Roc(who is a stud in his own right). They'll be just fine.
