If we would get rid of about 15 of these bullshite bowls like the Birmingham Bowl and the Pinstripe Bowl and raise the minimum standards for both the bowl and the teams, the rest would be a lot better off. Also require the stadia used be renovated and usable sometime this century. Nothing wrong some of the traditional old bowls like the Sun and Liberty and even the Indy. Just make em more viable. If you had better teams playing, no 5-7 losers, everyone would be better off.

I miss the old Astro Bluebonnet Bowl.

Back in the 90s it was a legit game in a shitty city. Usually featured two teams ranked 18-25 or so.

Throughout it's entire history the Independence Bowl is the exact kind of game this board bitches about w/the misguided idea that only great teams were invited to bowls "back in the day". There have been just 7 ranked teams to play in it and only one game where both teams were ranked. Even for many of it's better games (team record wise) it would be between non traditional power schools that a ton of people here still whine about being played.

The weird thing is, for its diminutive size and lackluster teams, the Indy Bowl has had some pretty amazing games.

SEC Bowl Selection Process

**The Independence Bowl selects after the CFP, Citrus Bowl, the Pool of Six (Outback Bowl, TaxSlayer Bowl, Music City Bowl, Texas Bowl, Belk Bowl and Liberty Bowl) and the Birmingham Bowl.
