Good for you. Just because that's how your personally feel doesn't mean sexual assault laws should afford less protections for men than women.

If this had happened in a Muslim country, would the offender have been castrated?

Everyone who says stuff like this would surely change their tune if it happened to their own daughter.

Exactly. Just give him a fine and community service.
Our prisons are overcrowded, underfunded, and here we are giving a guy two years for teabagging.

Common sense tells me the law is written that way for a reason and should be applied to everyone equally.

If my daughter is alone and passed out on bourbon st there is a moral hazard here, right? I wouldn't like it, but it's not sexual assault.
And continuing to throw around "making someone touch genitals against their will" is a very exaggerated description of what actually happened.

I'm not defending shite. Just saying the punishment doesn't fit the crime.

G.(1) On a first conviction, whoever commits the crime of obscenity shall be fined not less than one thousand dollars nor more than two thousand five hundred dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not less than six months nor more than three years, or both.

No one is saying what he did was right, but you don't have to give him such an extreme punishment over something that did nothing more than hurt someone's ego.

Meh. Men can get groped by disgusting streetwalkers without feeling scarred or violated. Bros hit each other in the nuts and give titty twisters because they think it's funny. Change the gender and it's a whole different story. Men and women are different. That's common sense. Laws just don't allow for that.

You should start a campaign to change the law. "Hey everyone, don't you want free reign to sexually assault people who are passed out in public places?! Vote for Proposition 342 so we can all sexually assault the inebriated without the pesky jail time!"

I'm sorry. Let me rephrase - "When the gentleman gently placed his scrotum onto the resting man's face, I do not believe the resting man had given his permission to do so."

There is a difference between Bros and complete strangers. Also public and private. Can you not understand that?
Posted on 5/19/16 at 9:43 am to dwr353
I personally have had a hooker, who was a stranger and in public, grab my crotch and start licking my ear uninvited. I had to physically force her off of me. I then went on about my life and never considered myself a victim or pursuing anything legal.
If a man had done this to my wife it would be a very different story.
That's all I am saying.

In fact I think it would be pretty ridiculous and silly for a man to press charges in that situation. For a woman I would support it completely.
Posted on 5/19/16 at 9:46 am to genro
Had this occurred between friends in private I could not care less. We will just have to agree to disagree. To e to move on.

That really isn't the same.

I didn't say it was the same. Follow the conversation

The State of Louisiana brings the charges. This wasn't a civil suit. This wasn't:
Drunk LSU fan
vs.
Alabama loser, douchebag
It was:
The State of Louisiana
vs.
Deadbeat, Alabama loser of a father

That makes it a bit more ridiculous. Of all the things that happen on Bourbon St., this is the thing they give 2 years in jail for?
