I think he knew his arse was gonna get kicked in OT and just wanted to get it over with and go home.

All this is BS. The truth is that college rules do not allow for enough practice time to prepare for things like this. If you did practice this, you'd have to give ground on something more important.

I'm sure he was thinking something like this: "I wonder if it's this cold in Austin this time of year."

Alabama's team practices the kick return on a FG on a regular basis. The players decided to just stand there and watch the kick at the end of the game.
So, yeah, Saban is a chump for not covering the field and making the tackle.

Ah...but it did happen. 109 yards of infamy.

He was thinking all those offensive linemen that run sub 5.0 40's got this.

He was humbled twice: when he didn't go for the field goal and then when he did. Ego may have played into some of the decision-making, but he is a smart man and I think he learned something about himself.
If he didn't, you can be damn sure the man behind the curtain, Kevin Elko, told him what a dumbass he was and why.

Watch this video of the broncos 64 yard field goal from a few weeks ago. It shows perfect coverage.
I believe this was actually the day after the Iron Bowl.
So, yeah.... That shite was kinda on the minds of people.

Best answer in here...
Listening to Bama fans you would think every guy on their team is faster than the fastest on opposing teams. Well done

Sure Bill Parker. They practice that every week...sure. Believe whatever excuse your idol throws out there.

It was meant to be man. That Iron Bowl pendulum has always, and will always continue to swing back and forth. it's the ugliest, and craziest rivalry in all american sports.

Thanks
It was actually funny to see there was no gunners or anything close to a fast guy on that FG attempt..I was surprised Bama players made it that close. If I was a betting man Id say the kicker had the fastest 40 time. .You dont catch Saban with his pants down often so it was classic.

Auburn's wall was pretty nice. I get auburn practicing building the wall on other kinds of returns, but FG returns? When do they do that?

Saban was out coached.
Or it was a miracle.

He was thinking that he wished he'd be a couple inches taller so he could ride space mountain at Disney World.

Coach Saban had the team ready to cover the missed FG, they just did not execute. It was not his fault, listen to his interview after the game. You not going to pin this one on him
Absolute utter fricking bull shite. Makes about as much sense as saying that Cyrus Koundijo is ready to go in and play quarterback. There's a reason why th Kouandijos, Steen, Shepherd, Vogler, and TWO kickers don't play on punt coverage. Listen to his interview??? Jesus effing christ. All that does is prove that, in spite of the fact Saban is the absolute best in the game right now, he's still a helluva long way from being on the same level as Bear fricking Bryant.

More utter fricking bull shite. You can have Anthony Steen practice taking snaps every day at QB and having him throw deep corner routes to the Kouandijo brothers, but that doesn't mean they'd be any good at it. The excuse that they "practice this every day" is the most retarded, idiotic statement I've ever heard a coach...or fans...make.

Outside of Hubbard and the other LB who had protection duty on the edge, I wonder how many times anyone else on the field at the time had ever tackled a ballcarrier on a college football field in their careers. My guess woukd be close to zero.
