Hmm well let me think. I am FROM Georgia. Go to LSU. My father lives in Mississippi. I have lived in every state in the south at some point.
So yeah, I can safely say its alabama #1.

Well if you ever leave the South at some point in your life, you'll see a lot more Ohio State and Texas fans walking around than Bama fans.

It's a valid point in a discussion of allegiances. The point being you should cheer for the team which represents 'you'. 'You' being the student body/alumni of that school.

Ah, well that makes sense. I think for folks from Alabama, the reasons for there being so many fans who haven't attended their respective universities (AU or UA) is because one, there isn't an NFL team to pull for, and two, family allegiance. Most people in Alabama are aware of Alabama and Auburn at a young age and probably most are pushed into choosing a side.

As for me, I've just always liked Bama. I never stayed in Alabama very long, but have family who like them, I loved the history, etc..

Relax, your school is #1 in something else. If there was a NC for most sidewalk fans, yall would probably have even more NCs in that than yall do in football.

I don't care who you root for. Be rabid as all hell for your team. But if somebody who is clearly a sidewalk fan (usually a fan of the bovines from Austin) gives me hell for being a degree-holding Aggie, I won't think twice about putting them in their place. You do not represent the rival with my school because you bought a t-shirt from Walmart. Sorry.

Maybe I just get a bad impression cause every single person I know from my high school that went to UGA, is just like that.

I asked this earlier and didn't see a response so I will ask again, what you guys think SEC football would be like without sidewalkers?

Sidewalk fans is what makes the south great.

Well, if you are asking the important question of guys sitting on the couch and watching TV...there would be no millionaire coaches and this is a fact. Plus there would be a semi-pro NFL farm system most likely.

Maybe Arkansas. If so, its sidewalk alumni might outnumber those who actually earned a diploma from that university.

This coming from an LSU fan.

Kinda the pot calling the kettle black ain't it?

I would guess that just about all SEC Schools have extremely large numbers of sidewalk fans except:

Vandy--private school whose atletic programs have not been consistent and are in same state as Vols.

Mizzou--I mean if you aren't an alum why would you be a fan of them?

Aggies--unless there are alot of cultish do really weird shite type side walk fans out there, there not a big pool to pull from

Ole Miss--Because hell Alumni doesn't even like Ole Miss right now.

yeah, that means you're winning and doing something right. There is a reason there is so few Vandy fans...

In the 90's I doubt LSU had a whole lot of non-alum supporters. I doubt this purification of the fanbase is something we'd want repeated.

The hatred of 'sidewalk' fans around here is disappointing and unfound. This sounds more like a Big 10 board most of the time.

Just base your stats on the #'s released by t shirt sales.

https://www.clc.com/clcweb/publishing.nsf/Content/Rankings+Annual+2012

(1.) The University of Texas at Austin (2.) The University of Alabama (3.) University of Kentucky (4.) University of Florida (5.) The University of Michigan (6.) Louisiana State University (7.) University of North Carolina (8.) University of Georgia (9.) University of Notre Dame (10.) The University of Oklahoma

#'s vary quarterly for obvious reasons(football season and bball season). However UT-A and UA are always 1 and 2. UK is always in the top 10.

Sorry Georgia fans. You just don't cut it. UF, LSU, or UK gets 2nd place for sidewalk fans.
