That article is two years old and doesn't even mention The Dodie

A lot of people shrug off the Gruden idea but I have a feeling this may be a real option. It's just getting weird how much he gushes about our program every chance he gets and he's so competitive that I can't see many other reasons why he's just hanging around on TV.

Don't get your hopes up, though. Between Arkansas, Tennessee, and Texas, the Great Gruden Hire is pretty much a running joke now.

You're an idiot if you think MSU facilities are better. The only thing they will have better than us soon is a baseball stadium, astonishingly.

Yeah that was before the massive upgrades in and around Williams-Brice and was when the rest of the "athletic Horseshoe" around the Dodie was just underway.

Hell within the next 365 days we should have new outdoor and indoor practice facilities up and operational.

Spurrier means a great deal to South Carolina, not much different than all the other SEC programs. All the great programs have suffered through poor coaching it's just that their past winning has helped them rebound. I'll say this, right now we have a lot better leadership above the coaching level that we aren't going to totally go back to being as crappy as we've been many years. I believe we're attractive enough RIGHT NOW to lure a great coach but I also think that will be strengthened greatly if Spurrier can win an SEC title before he leaves.

He's been to campus several times. Did you know he owns land in East Tennessee?

I agree that Gruden may be an option to replace Spurrier. Didn't even think about it until he talked about speaking at USC on MNF, and knowing a lot of the "Gamecocks."

I'll believe the Gruden stuff when I see it. Like randomways said, he's flirted with a lot of big time programs.

Just because he and Spurrier are friends, doesn't mean he's going to come coach here. I like the Ward idea, depending on where he is when Spurrier retires.

Gruden's not coaching collegiality unless it's 10 years from now as an older man.

He's an NFL'er all the way.

Gruden? Besides it being a joke but no thanks to a coach who's been out of the profession for several years.

what was extra frustrating about pre spurrier was that year after year we would lose close games to the big boys. games like 1980 Georgia are the perfect example. don't get me wrong, ive seen us lose to app state and get blown out by Michigan, but on the other hand barely lose to Nebraska in a home and home back in the 80's. screw the pooch against notre dame allowing a last minute drive to win it. we always seemed to be just at the brink of being damned competitive. spurrier just wasn't gonna play that shite. you frickin win the close ones and the rest sorts itself.

This isn't pre-Spurrier, but I remember 2006 we lost like 5-6 games by less than 7 points. What a frustrating year.
