I guess Vandy, UF, UGA, or maybe. The first 3 are the only peers with A&M academically and UT has a strong program in a similar field. I would have to research more specifically before giving a real answer.

Had you not attended your alma mater?

Or if not, if you were to pull for another SEC school besides your own?

I could have absolutely gone to UGA or LSU (same distance as T-Town for me).

I considered A&M, Auburn and UGA for grad school. Chose UGA but would have been as happy at the other two.

I think almost any of them would have been at least a decent fit. UGA would have been good.

I probably could not have gotten into vandy, and def would not have gotten a scholarship.

Honestly I think they would all have been fun if I had attended and they are all good schools. I think that aTm might have been a little culture shock but between childhood friends and the Army I know good peeps who went to every school in the SEC.

Even MSU.

UGA or Vandy. Maybe Arkansas. However, if I had the chance to go to college again, I'd go to the west coast.

Same here. I love SC and had a really great time there.. but If I knew in high school what I knew now about college I definitely would've packed my bags for the West Coast.

Funny thing is, I remember getting a lot of unsolicited mail from Occidental College and Pepperdine in high school but I always tossed it to the side because I was dead set on staying in the South or East Coast.

If I HAD to stay in the SEC though I probably would've gone to Florida or Kentucky.

Georgia was my first favorite college football team, way back in 1965. Then I came back home to go to Carolina.

My favorites to attend: Georgia, LSU or Florida. I am not so sure that Florida is as good a state school that can be found in the South. There has been a ton of money spent on academics in Gainesville.

Accepted to LSU but out of state tuition was too much... Oxford was less than an hour away and much cheaper.

Well put me on the UGA list as well, I love that part of Georgia. USC because it is a gorgeous state. Probably Missouri as well, I like the area.

While I get along great with Aggies I wouldn't have picked Texas A&M unless it was the only school that accepted me. I spent my time in the military thank you, not eager to repeat that as a fish.

i would probably gone to SC due to in state tuition. columbia didn't have the vista area in the mid 90's so it wasn't as appealing a college town then.

maybe uga, auburn, tenn if papa bear would have paid out o state tuition.

Not SEC, but SEC State.

U.S.M. was under strong consideration. Southern Mississippi not only had a great Marching Band, but the Major that I wanted. (Film Production)

LSU was in-state, had the Band too, but didn't have the Major.

Eventually the "Lure of de Animal" won out and went there any way. I certainly made the most out of my time playing in Tiger Band..............

Honestly - and this sounds weird to say - but Bama seems to be the closest to LSU in terms of campus, culture, "feel," etc...

Both are the flagship state schools, solid education that's much higher than the rankings, brand name that won't hold you back from anywhere (but won't blow open any doors either), etc... And outside of football, no one acts all snooty about going to Bama (but are proud of their alma mater). So oddly, maybe Bama.

I mean it's not like Vandy would have accepted my stupid arse

University of Arkansas.

But if I had a do over, I'd go to Missouri S&T (MO Science and Technology)...an engineering school that ranks nearly as high as MIT

Does Missouri S&T rank as highly as A&M?

Makes me wonder how they don't have #1 recruiting classes every year. It's got everything as a school.

Well there's a lot more that goes into recruiting. Relationships with coaches, championship aspirations, desire to go to school close to/far away from home, etc.

If we had Nick Saban I'm sure we would have the #1 class every year.

UGA

I was playing in bands in high school and liked the music scene Athens had to offer, but the out of state tuition was nuts (they chuckled when my dad mentioned an alumni discount--he got his PhD there). However, 4 guys from my area moved to Athens (I don't think any went to UGA) and all started well-known indie bands.

Stop. Ranked nearly as high as MIT? Maybe in certain programs but nowhere even close overall. Hope that meth tastes good.
