What Makes Kirby Smart Different Than Will Muschamp As a Head Coach?

I can't trust any guy whose claim to fame is being Saban's DC. I say this because you are running one of football's best defensive minds' defense. I never thought Muschamp was deserving of the high praise he received to be a head coach. I say this because not only did Muschamp run Saban's defense at LSU but he also ran Tuberville's defense at Auburn previous to this current tour at Auburn. And, Tuberville is also respected defensive coach from way back (Miami Hurricanes and A&M).

This is definitely a coaching changes board thread.

Maybe the fact that Kirby has not yet been a head coach?

First, who said USCe wants Smart? Next, who said Smart wants to leave Alabama for that job?

I agree. We definitely need the coaching changes board. Unprecedented early coaching changes necessitates it.

I'm gonna laugh if/when Kirby Smart turns USC into.....the other USC.

Some USCe fans. None of us know what will happen. But, for sake of fun lets stick to the topic.

I didn't know Kirby Smart was such a heavy drinker.

Kirby Smarts experience under Saban includes the golden years here at Alabama. Smart also has a much better personality than Muschamp.

Oh and if anyone would like to know Saban had this one DB coach (Smarts original role) in East Lansing who eventually became a head coach. Hes proven to be pretty good. Some guy from SC named Dantonio or something.

In one word... Maturity. It is just my perspective but Muschamps blow ups seem to lack direction. Saban blows his top but it usually has a purpose behind it. Muschamps blow ups seem to be similar to how I am with my kids after working nights. What you did ticks me off and I fly off the handle but I doubt they learned anything from it. Kirby seems much more patient and has spent more time as a DC.

Dantonio has had a successful career without Saban. Dantonio was a success at Ohio State and even stayed at Michigan State after Saban left. Dantonio was a success at Ohio State under Tressel. Dantonio was a success at Youngstown State. Dantonio did way more to make himself an attractive head coach candidate at a major school than Kirby Smart has in my opinion.
Kirby Smart, in my opinion, hasn't even distinguished himself career-wise to the level of Mel Tucker. Tucker is a two time NFL DC and I see Bama is reaping immediate rewards from his role as defensive secondary coach. I saw how your secondary slipped under Kirby's tutelage.

Tucker was DC for three NFL teams, I thought?

The days of assistant coaches being hired as head coaches at major programs are over IMO. Even Tom Herman and Gus Malzahn had to take head coaching jobs at non Power 5 schools because the opportunities weren't there. I won't be surprised if Kirby accepts a job at a place like Georgia State just to get his foot in the door.
