In the Big Ten, Bielema went 23-1 against Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, and Purdue and 16-18 against everybody else.
Wouldn't a coach that won 95% of the games against half the SEC (Ole Miss, State, S.C., Aggies, KY, Vandy, and Tenn) and be one game under .500 against Bama, LSU, Florida, Georgia, and Auburn) would be considered a pretty good coach.
Wouldn't that make Bielema averaging 9-10 wins a year.
Does the SEC Rant think this is underachieving at Arkansas?
Wouldn't beating the Big 6 50% of the time mean that Arkansas was on par with the Big 6?

I just don't know if his style will work at Arkansas.
What's his style, actually having a defense and offense? Seems like a good one to me

He will never accumulate the talent to win playing smashmouth, IMO...How his offense evolves will tell the story.
He's not going to run the ball 70% of the time like at Wisconsin

Arky, OM, MSU all need innovative/gimmick offenses to try to level the talent discrepancy that we will always face against Alabama, LSU, and to a smaller extent, Auburn...JMO
No they don't

Yeah I can't understand the Rant logic on this one. I would be pretty damn happy if our head coach had a 39-19 conference record.

1-5 against ohio state
2-4 in bowl games
1-10 on the road versus ohio state, michigan, penn state, and michigan state
losing record against teams in the top 25
anyway, i think its a disappointing loss for wisconsin, but all he really did was maintain what Barry Alvarez had already created without equaling or exceeding Alvarez's accomplishments. He is an ok coach but honestly i think a little overrated.

What was Saban's record in the Big Ten? Did he take Michigan State to the Rose Bowl? Any BCS bowl? Any bowl? Bielema has had much greater success in that conference than Saban did.

His face looks like one of an Auburn coach.

well we did just fire his arse. Guess we did't upgrade as much as I thought.

I know I usually troll Arkansas. But it's 2013. So honestly..
Decent coach but won't ever win a NC or the SEC. No fertile recruiting, toughest division in football, etc etc

Decent to good, but may have bit off more than he can chew by coming to the SEC and at Arkansas making it even tougher.

Haha can honestly say I'm not scared of him at all.

I don't think he'll find success at Arkansas. His style conflicts with the previous regime so I see immediate success being limited and I don't know if he can recruit all that well coming from the Midwest to the southeast and going up against some really good programs for athletes.
Plus I don't think he's a great gameday coach.
I could be eating crow, but I don't think he'll ever find long term success there.

Bret Bielema has a horrible track record in bowl games, going 2-4 during his time at Wisconsin. Considering Arkansas' track record in bowl games, he'll fit in quite nicely.
Even less impressive is the fact that one of those bowl wins came against Arkansas.

3 10+ win seasons in the last 4 years in a BCS conference. Besides Saban and Spurrier, which coaches in the SEC had as impressive a resume as Bielema when they were hired?
Uh Les Miles.

Honestly, for me it's wait and see. He was pretty whiny at Wisconsin with Meyers recruiting style, and now he is in a conference with 10 others just like it. He's either a good hire, or a meh hire, and only games will show.

So you really get scared over who a teams coach is? If that is the case you Arky fans must get scared a lot playing in the SEC.
