Getting rid of Fulmer was a mistake.

Right. Look at all the jobs he's been getting since. Clearly he had more left in the tank.

How so? Cut left y'all in '99. Until '08 y'all were always pretty damn good.

Cutcliffe came back in 2006 and was there in 2007. Fulmer went 10-13 his last two years without Cut.

Short answer: talent and coaching. Some posted data in this forum today that showed a significant down-turn in the number of players Tennessee has put in the NFL over the last 5 or so years compared to the previous 5 years.

UT always had talent.

Rivals.com last 13 years UGA vs UT. UT has 7-6 edge over UGA even when you include Dooley's shitty classes.

Doesn't matter if that talent leaves or gets kicked out. That happened more often than not the past 6-7 years

People forget, it's not just since 2008 it's a full decade... Is it terminal???

UT is 67 - 58 over the last 10 years. 9 games over .500 for an entire decade...

The rest of the BIG-6...

UA... 101 - 30 (+71)

AU... 92 - 37 (+55)

LSU... 104 - 27 (+77)

UF ... 94 - 36 (+58)

UGA... 93 - 37 (+56)

Hell...SCe is 83 - 44 (+39)

Arkansas is 67 - 56 (+11)

it took 3 pages to mention his name. Letting him go along with the Fulmer fallout are the reasons for Tennessee's initial fall from glory. The kiffin bullshite didn't help the brief recruiting spike.

Tenn is now on the rise though. They have to avoid another distraction.

I don't think I've ever seen a coach more butthurt about losing a player than Fulmer was with that. He was the reason we got fricking investigated.

Interesting. He got us investigated, too, while the NCAA looked the other way while his arse was cheating the same way up in Knoxville.

Tennessee's lack of success since 2008 is due to karma. Plain and simple. Saban sealing Fulmer's fate after the beatdowns of 2007 and 2008 was among the most satisfying moments for me as a fan.

2003: 10-3
2004: 10-3
2005: 5-6
2006: 9-4
2007: 10-4
2008: 5-7
2009: 7-6
2010: 6-7
2011: 5-7
2012: 5-7
2013: 5-7

It's not terminal. At least not yet. They were good in 2003 and 2004. There was an anomaly in '05 before they recovered in '06 and '07. Then the bottom fell out in 2008 and UT has yet to recover. This season will tell the story of their future in the SEC.
