We were set up by Sigma Chi & we walked all throughout campus before the game in 2011. Everyone was secluded around their tailgates and no one spoke to us the whole day other than people we already knew from Auburn and their friends.

Auburn tailgating blows. Have been to every LSU Auburn game, and even went to Auburn games back in high school because I lived 40 minutes away.

Thankfully, the last time LSU played Auburn, some lsu fan threw a huge tailgate. Free booze, free food, and must have been near 200 people there.

Was it the tailgate on the corner of that hilly wooded area on the south side of the stadium (iirc)?

Campus is cool & still had a blast though

Tailgating in Athens is no different than tailgating at Auburn. The downtown scene yes Athens is better, but one cannot tell me Athens is some mega hotbed for tailgaters. I cannot count the number of times I've been there, but it's exactly the same. If people want to compare the north campus to Auburn, I'd point you to direction of the amphitheater on Auburns campus. Its a shite show over there every home game. LSU on the other hand...their culinary skills beat the shite out of everyone else.

Maybe?
I was pretty gone. It was near one of those trailer porta potties. Got real fricked up because some Auburn girls offered free jello shots, I asked what was in them, they told me rum, and after I had about 5 said "Oh wait, those were the everclear ones"

LSU (had a great time tailgating)
Arkansas (loved Fayetteville)
Vandy (Nashville is great)
Florida (loved the stadium and campus, very unique)
Kentucky (really liked the stadium. Small, but nice)
Auburn
Tennessee (I hate the stadium)
MSU (at least the campus seemed nice)
Ole Miss (can't think of many positives about my trip)

Haven't been to UGA, Mizzou, USC, or aTm.

It's true, but Athens tailgating, while not better, has more going on. For a big game, North Campus is packed (and sometimes trashed). UGA tailgating is spread out like Auburn's, but sometimes the continuity isn't there because it is more difficult to see one area from another in Athens.

UGA also probably has a ton more people in town per game, but I don't really think either is objectively better at tailgating. I think Auburn has the better in game atmosphere (by far), UGA has the better town experience (by far) and the tailgating is pretty even.

have not been there since the 80's but I always enjoyed going to A&M. While many think they are kinda wierd the Band is always entertaining and I even enjoyed their cheers and them swaying back and forth was pretty cool to watch. Some of their fans were... lets say jerks to be kind, but who doesn't have some of those. Two of my cousins attended there so I have been a few times. There used to be a BBQ place down there that served the meat on butcher paper with a stack of bread some pickles and a knive. Maybe some of you AGGIES oldtimers could help me out with the name?

I've been to every venue except aTm, Starkville, Gainesville & Fayetteville....

quote:

1a. Jacksonville & the WLOCP (I know but it's a yearly SEC game venue & the biggest regular season party in the SEC... bar none)

1b.LSU... awesome on a football Sat.
2. Auburn... DSOR, tailgating is good + a lotta passion & (mostly) good natured smack talk. Fun trip.
3. Lexington... Sue me, I enjoy Keeneland & the laidback atmosphere in Lex.
4. Tuscaloosa... Pretty much the same as Auburn minus the DSOR. Always a great trip.
5. Old Miss... Lotta Pomp & Pageantry but the Grove isn't really my gig & seems too orchestrated & forced to me... Just one persons opinion, TIFWIW...
6. CoMo... Nice town, beautiful campus, friendly fans but the tailgating starts too late & seems too sporadic & unorganized... JMO...
7. Nashville... lotta shite to do not involving football & usually a low key trip ('13 sucked... )

8. Knoxville & Columbia SC... no comment

that old bbq place was called Toms. Average bbq but it had a nice block of cheddar cheese..

Sauce sucked.

It's been closed for a while.

It ain't about the sauce, Jobu. We're Texans. It's about the beef.

People will think I'm saying this just to try to stick up for South Carolina but this is just how I feel about the tailgating part of it. Everyone seems to speak highly of the more picturesque campuses and places that have a bunch of trees and small lots but actually prefer the wide open lots like we have around Williams Brice. As far as stadiums go, I like Georgia the best but I've only been to UT, UK, and Georgia out of the SEC and Chapel Hill and Clemson otherwise. I also care less about how a stadium looks on the outside versus how it is during the game. I did like how UT was a giant bowl but the narrow seats are seriously ridiculous.
