No, it's you that doesn't get it. You need to get out more as well.

Kentucky and Mizzou are not really part of the SEC culture
Go frick yourself. We are in the top 25 in attendance for football every year.
Kentucky's football atmosphere is great. Definitely in line with other SEC schools.

Most SEC fans just can't comprehend caring about another sport in addition to football because they've never been good at anything else.
That may be part of it. I know LSU fans go crazy over baseball without interfering with our football obsession, so I don't see the harm in treating basketball the same way.

I've been to pretty much all the SEC campuses and they aren't any better than Mizzou's campus.
I believe he meant visiting the campuses on game day. Going to the campus and going to the campus right before a home game are not at all the same. Watch LSU play an SEC team in Tiger Stadium at night. Show up at least 6 hours before the game starts and walk around the campus. This will give you some perspective. The energy in Tiger Stadium is palpable during a big game. At night, it's even better.

I've even been out to the college bars in Tuscaloosa, Auburn and Opelika and they are complete dives and shitholes.
I'm trying to figure out why you mentioned this, and I can't. People don't tailgate in bars. I don't know where bars enter the equation. Do you tailgate in bars up there? If so, you're doing it wrong. If you want a good bar, hit The Chimes (the one just off campus) at LSU. The food is good and the place will be full of LSU fans, but it still has nothing to do with tailgating.
The SEC isn't about who parties or drinks the most. While alcohol is often a factor in the excitement surrounding games, football is still the core. I'd rather watch LSU play on a tiny black and white TV just outside the stadium than on a big screen TV in a bar somewhere. I want to hear the roar and feel the temple shake.

This. If I'm in some fancy bar, It just feels like i'm going to break something. If I can find a place with great drinks, great atmosphere, and fantastic girls, I'm good to go. It could be in a treehouse for all I care.
Come on up to Columbia and go out to Harpo's on Thursday nights for quarter draws. The sorority girls are so thick it's hard to squeeze between them to move around.

I'm going to make a prediction.
By the first week of the next regular season you'll be quoted in more than one sig.
You've got that MUCH potential.

Is that the 3 level bar? If so i've been. It was cool, had some decent specials, but defnitely not my scene at all.

Quantrill, here is some SEC Culture:
1. Big time tailgating
2. Affecting the game with crowd noise
3. Calling for your coach to be fired after any loss
4. Most importantly, caring about your football program and not accepting mediocrity

Not a bad one at all, redlegs.
It was worth it just to see fuzzymayo's post.

More accurately, calling for OC of DC if loss and they are the cause. Crediting HC for masterful adjustments in wins. At least thats how we roll in AU

The 70 yr old retired couple driving in early from Shreveport to reserve their RV spot on a Thursday is not tailgating.
Not everyone in an RV is old and/or retired. Even if they were, old people can tailgate, too. I have friends who take off work and drive their RVs in. They are neither old nor retired. I used to ride my bike around LSUs campus as a kid and I remember seeing RVs on Thursdays even way back then. When my professors cancelled class on Fridays, we were out there Thursday night or early Friday morning at the latest. The die-hard fans start tailgating as early as they can.

That's no different than at Mizzou. Yeah, you guys have a few more thousand in attendance, but I will still put our gameday atmosphere up against anyone's. You've probably never been to Columbia, MO much less on gameday.

Different areas have different traditions. In November the nights can get a little chilly out so Rally Night at the bars has been a tradition. Besides, I'd rather be at Harpo's with hundreds of hot girls than sitting out in a parking lot drinking beer with a bunch of guys.
Black and white TV??
You should come to our tailgate right outside Farout Field. We have a 20' cargo trailer with "concession windows" that open up on each side for three flat screen TVs on each side. It's equipped with an onboard generator (muffled, of course), a satellite dish and a full sound system. We can not only watch the game inside, but several other games at the same time. Next to one side of that we put up an 800 square foot tent with plenty of tables, chairs, full bar, steam table set-up to keep the food hot, lots of beer, SODA and food.

Son, I grew up in the cotton fields of Missouri so I ain't no Yankee. My little slice of Missouri produces more cotton than the entire state of Alabama.
Look it up.

If you still don't get why we root for each other in OOC and bowl games...
We are like 12 brothers when playing each other we will do anything to win and hate each others guts but when playing OOC we want nothing more than to see our brother succeed.
