On the Rant, Ghandi would get a similar critique.

RP, nice yard stick to measure people...what's your point--are you saying as long as he is (ethically) better than RP, he can be a jerk on the field?????????

I can't stand the guy. I would love to have him in purple and gold and admit he's a great player but....he reminds me a immature HS kid playing video games. Seems to me, he doing all of his childish shinanagens to get on camera. He's at 11 and I need him at 6. Give me a break with all the sideline theaterical drama. Harvin is the best player on the team and you don't see him acting like a buffon. That is all...

He's the greatest college football player of all time.
He's also a phenomenal human being.
I mean, when he got an unsportsmanlike call on him it was almost biblical. lol

That kid has earned every accolade he has gotten. The media fawns over him but it is with good reason. Kid is a freakin warrior on the football field and seems like an even bigger man off it. If my daughter went to Florida I would want him to knock her up. Get him drunk and cut a hole in the condom to give me a grandson from that gene pool.

He get's to me because of all of these idiots posting in this thread.
"Great human being"
"Righteous"
"He's not a Tiger"
None of these petty posts really answer the question do they? They just sound like the "bahhhh" of little sheep.
Tebow like to preach? HE'S THE GREATEST PERSON EVA! Please. Just because the guy loves God doesn't make him Jesus Christ Superstar.
So, to answer your question--Tebow get's on my nerves because he isn't normal. He's a good player (and person I guess), but he sure isn't humble. I respect a humble person.

I never hear him not being humble. The cameras are always on him so you see him a lot but I doubt he is waving that towel anymore than Jai Eugene or any other fired up player. Bunch of geeks that won't do in their whole life what this kid does in a week get on a message board and be critical of him. He could take your girlfriend and charm your mom into cooking for him afterward and you would just go back to your keyboard to post something stupid about it.

He's an attention whore plain and simple.
He's supposed to be such a great christian guy. Big fricking whoop. Bradford and McCoy are good christian guys, but they aren't running around chopping foreskins, painting John 3:16 on their faces, crying at press conferences, etc...

IMO, it's a combination of these:
1.
______________________________________
Because he was home schooled and socially awkward
______________________________________
2.
As for the "He's not a Tiger" responses. Based on the way our QB's have been emasculinated over the years, I really doubt that even being a Tiger would keep some LSU fans from tearing him down.

He claims to be a Christian, and actually lives it.
That usually really disturbs people, because we all struggle so hard to live a righteous life. With Tebow, it is hard to reconcile his competitive spirit with the Christian walk. I don't see it as a contradiction, but it could be viewed that way.

C'mon, Luke. You're just bitter because Tebow gave all the love to John. Matthew and Mark aren't complaining. I guess they aren't bitter UT fans.

I couldn't agree more. Everything he does is to get more camera time.

You didn't see the ESPN behind-the-scenes special on him? ESPN had a special on him before he even went to college.

no TV under that rock where you've been living the last 3 years?? j/k
In Florida, the legislature passed a law, whereby a homeschooled student is cleared to play organized sports, (or participate in other organized school groups, i.e. band) for the local public school they are zoned for, and pay taxes in.

What is it about Tebow
That I can't stand
It's the fact that he thinks his encouragement and approval is needed at every possible moment of the game and probably even in practice. It's the arrogant assumption that no one can do it or it won't be done right if he doesn't somehow get involved in the situation. When he does it so over-the-top like he does, it's an in your face attempt to take away another's autonomy and one's own motivation. It's saying, "I don't think you can do it unless I tell you to do it." If I were a defender on Florida's team, I would tell him to go sit his arse down.
I probably need to clarify a statement above. I say attempt to take away autonomy...I may be wrong about that. He probably doesn't realize that is what he is doing. I think he's probably blind to how annoying it is truthfully. He is a good kid trying to do the right thing. He is just all up in peoples boundaries and no one likes that even if it is coming from Superman.
For the most part, the kid is humble but in this regard his lack of humility is unbelievably huge. If he tries to do that kind of stuff in the NFL, he will get blasted. He will get humbled really quick. And if he keeps it up, people will eventually just tune him out.
