The Fla. highway patrolman on Interstate #10 told me that I had elite speed last week.

The fastest WR, and probably the fastest player in SEC football this coming season is Damiere Byrd.

He runs for SC's track team as well and posted a 6.66 60 meter at an NCAA meet.

He's been hand timed in the 40 in the mid-4.2's.

He'll probably run laser timed 4.38 to 4.4.

There isnt much difference in a 4.35 vs 4.45. After 40 yards its only slight separation....talking a foot or two. Well ran routes are better than elite speed, just ask Chris Carter.

We're talking about just speed. What is elite?

Are they able to create separation with that speed? That would be "elite" to me. Ted Ginn Jr. in college couldn't run a route to save his life, but could catch and could run fast

If you can consistently get open ONLY because of straight line speed, you have elite speed. JMO

Byrd is one of the few I would not be at all surprised to see run a 4.2 at the combine.

As for Cooper, I'm expecting a mid 4.4. Maybe he is capable of a high 4.3 here and there, but I seriously doubt his official combine time will be below 4.4. These 4.3 times are about as ideal as possible with the conditions and who is timing him.

He's incredibly fast but he's not going to run in the 4.2s laser timed. Those times are rare. There's only been like 7 to run under 4.3 since 2000.

Not saying I expect it, just that I would not be blown away if it were to happen.

He is a really fast guy on the field and as small as he is, I imagine the pads do slow him down a good bit. It isn't impossible he could be very fast in shorts on the track with all that time to focus on it before the combine.

I feel you bro. If he perfects his technique then he might have a shot.

Cooper can fly. Not sure why it's difficult to believe, I guess because he doesn't have the look of a guy that can run the way he can.

Watch that throw at the end of the SECCG. He's moving, then the ball is thrown, and then he's flying.

I always thought Amari Cooper was in the 4.45-4.5 range by watching him on TV.

Cooper's routes are what make him an elite receiver. Speed is a bonus.

A 40 timed in the 4.2 range is not elite... it's a damn miracle.

I just find it hard to believe that he's in the Onterio McCalebb, Corey Grant, Patrick Peterson, Julio Jones, etc...type range with speed. 4.45-4.5 isn't slow, and it's a bonus like you stated. He runs routes well.

Y'all also claimed Ingram would run 4.4. Poor thing.
