Hard to force a grayshirt on a player that signed with another team. He was aware of it being a probability ahead of time, which goes along with Saban's and players' statements, that he's up front with kids coming into the program.

FYI - He's not a UA football player.

So, you've still yet to name a UA player that was forced to take a grayshirt.

Aren't you sweet!

I have been well!! I have been otherwise engaged with real life goings on of late...

How have you been Ice Cold?

An ice cold dream for the enthusiastic guzzler of liquid refreshments, to be sure.

I named a player that was forced to take a greyshirt and he said no thanks.

Smart kid.

But if he didn't sign with Alabama, how can you be "forced" to greyshirt. Was he or was he not told before signing day he'd have to 'greyshirt' ?

Some other players also didn't come to Bama because they were told we just didn't need them at all. I don't think that's fair. Maybe you should start a thread about it.

He was told 9 months after commiting that he would be forced to greyshirt.

Again. He wasn't forced. He's not a UA player. How do you force a grayshirt on a player at another school?

So how was he forced to take a grayshirt?

He was given the option of grayshirting at Alabama or going elsewhere, and he went to UK and got an immediate, full ride.

Well, you'd hope that wouldn't happen and I'm not saying its "good" or tough luck, but honestly, what top 25 team HASN'T done something similar in the last two or three signing periods ?

It's a one year scholarship for a reason.

Smart guy!

Chiz only has two signing classes...and when you play the 2009 season with 72 players you can sign more.

I don't have any dog in this hunt, but surely you are not suggesting that a kid who had the opportunity to sign elsewhere -- after he learned of his prospects for playing time -- is the same as a kid who signs his LOI under the impression that he will have an equal opportunity to play with everyone else?

Tell me you are not suggesting these are the same?
