What happened to the "high percentage shot" in basketball?

Is the motto for basketball now "pick and roll at the top of the key...shoot the 3?"

Why don't teams feed their big men, let them back down and dominate their respective player more often?
With the exception of Kentucky, I don't see very many other teams do this.

You mean like FTs? They died in the 80s.

UF doesn't have any skilled big men that can do that, so there's that.

How many teams have more than one or two capable post players? Not many.

What happened to the mid-range jump shot, free throw percentages and refs that are good at their jobs are all questions I'm more interested in at the moment. Well that and why do our 5 star recruits suck so bad...

Sounds like a coaching/motivational problem.

Street ball. Had a stretch where we couldn't compete internationally because those teams just beat us over the head with fundamentals.

This right here. Today it's all about selfish look at me ball, nobody plays for the team they all want to be the star.

We can definitely jack up some ill advised shots but we do feed down low pretty well too.

Again, this isn't true. I mean maybe with the shittu teams, but that's always been true. That's why they suck.

I will admit to being a casual basketball fan but that is what I see in my limited viewing of games.

How many teams do you see with dominant centers?..not many. Coaches would prefer to run the offense through the center, if they were fortunate enough to have a scorer who could also pass. Watch the Kentucky bigs work..it's damn near artistic!

How the hell are you drawing this conclusion?

Oh, that explains it. Let me guess, you don't watch the NBA either because it is your perception that "they don't play defense" ... amirite?

That would require ua to have an offensive gameplan.

AAU derp Shoe Deals Derp!

But seriously it is pretty bad. Watching A&M and LSUs offense last night was Same thing for Bama and Auburn. Florida is also pretty painful this year as well. Watching that many ball screens with that little talent is pretty tough.

Considering Arkansas is usually known as a "street ball" team, we run a pretty solid offense most of the time. I don't know if it's the coaching or simply because we have the best player in the SEC but it usually creates some good looks.

Layups and 3's are the most efficient shots in basketball.

Because college basketball rules are fricking dumb and allow you park someone on defense in the paint for 35 seconds.

Plus it is a really inefficient way of running an offense if you don't have guy who is really good at it.
