The UGA-AU could be considered a first round game of the playoff. With the winner essentially playing Bama in the quarterfinals (IB or SECCG).

Sort of. If UGA goes into that game at 9-0, loses a close one, and wins the next 2 to go to the SECCG at 11-1, a win would still get them in. Auburn probably has to win out.

Compared to other network contracts, CBS pays pennies to televise SEC games. They are raking in cash.
I have no sympathy for them.

However, I wish that we could have a pick of a better game weekend.

Just speculating, even if CBS could change dates for the primetime double header I imagine the final weekend of the regular season could be tricky. I'm pretty sure there are SEC games on both Thanksgiving and the day after. So that Saturday is going to be slim pickings and you have to save ESPN something to broadcast.

Auburn/Georgia seems like it would be the better fit.

games on Nov 4 are

Auburn @ A&M
LSU @ Alabama
South Carolina @ Georgia

Florida @ Mizzou
Ole Miss @ Kentucky

Southern Miss @ Tennessee
WKU @ Vanderbilt
Coastal Carolina @ Arkansas
UMass @ Mississippi St

The first three are the only ones that have any chance of getting that prime time slot IMO.

I'm going to go against what most LSU fans might post, and say bring on the Prime Time for LSU/Bama. Its going to be the worst beating Alabama has ever given LSU. With as poorly as LSU's administration handled every step of the process of firing Miles and hiring Goober Pyle, er, Orgeron, LSU deserves to have that embarrassing shitshow on national TV. The game will be over five minutes after kickoff, and, with no on field drama, the announcers will have the remainder of the game to talk about LSU.

They will get out of it.

There is no way that game will be the prime time game this year.

The weekend is locked in, but not necessarily LSU/Alabama. They could pick Auburn/aTm if they really wanted to.

Auburn could be 7-1 and aTm 6-2. It would be a better game.

However, they'd probably still pick LSU/Alabama just because people tune in to watch Alabama no matter what shite team they're playing.

If they can't switch it I think Auburn/A&M is the game.

I'm kind of hoping LSU/BAMA is the 11 AM ESPN game. Would be awesome.

Surely they didnt sign a stupid contract with no way of making a change for a certain price.

I think if they can get out of it if they need to.

I just can't see them picking LSU/BAMA this year for primetime. Doesn't make sense.

Does CBS wait until the week after and put Bama/State on at 2:30

This would be great. I could get my tailgating in, catch the pregame salute to the veterans, first quarter, leave when it hits 28-0, and be back home before dark.

They'll show it because Alabama will be ranked No. 1 and bring ratings eyeballs. Of course, the ratings will go down the toilet as the game progresses and LSU gets beat 100-0. But the best alternative for that week looks like Auburn at Texas A&M, and that's not happening.

You can count on CBS moving that primetime window next year. LSU will be bad for a few years. It's stuck with Orgeron given the idiotic buyout Alleva gave him. And as long as Orgeron is in place, LSU is back to the Hallman days.

They will because there isn't another great option. Don't be surprised though if next year the primetime game is on another weekend.

they still want to show Alabama. CBS pays a ton for the SEC and the SEC happens to have the #1 team. They may try to do something next year where maybe they have two games. But aside from what appears to be a bad LSU team, CBS wants to show the #1 team.
